1625 | QCAD (main) | Feature Request | Low | Copy Layer | Closed
|
Task Description
Hi,
often I’m in the situation that I have to create an additional Layer mostly based on the settings from an already existing Layer. Just a question of organization. This new Layer has then everything identical except the name and one(?) Attribute. This could be that only the color or the Line weight deviates.
Example:
Existing Layer
Layer name: Lot 47 area existing
Attributes
Color: Red
Lineweight: 0.35
Linetype: Dashed
New Layer
Layer name: Lot 47 area proposal
Attributes
Color: Blue
Lineweight: 0.35
Linetype: Dashed
Unfortunately if done manually it happens in an blink of an eye that the human imperfection (me!) makes a mistake and (e.g.) a “Center (.5x)” finds it way into the Linetype Field instead of a “Center (.2x)” ....
The workaround for a few User is to use in cases like this the Property Editor / General Property and customize single Attributes. In my opinion the first step to lose the control over your own drawing ...
A “Copy Layer” / Copy Layer Attributes” function would speed up this task and eliminate to a minimum the “human imperfection” factor.
I could imagine that a right click (like copy block) on the Layer triggers the “Add Layer” function and the dialog is already prefigured with the Settings of the Source Layer ...... ready for editing. The new Layer itself is “empty” like any other new Layer.

1643 | ECMAScript | Feature Request | Low | Modify > Explode: make drawing order predictable | Closed

Task Description
Usecase: Multiple entities ( for example polylines ) get exploded...
BUG: the exploded lines have all the same drawing ids the old entities had, a consequence of this is that when one explodes and then exports to dxf file the line order get’s scrambled wildly the exported order is “random”!
SUGGESTED FIX: sort the selected entities by their id first then after copying attributes ⇒ also set the order of the elements to the default order ! ( see fix in sourcecode attached )

Task Description
Win 7 Q-CAD 3.19.2
R-Click in Layer list With a selection, selecting by Layer adds the Items on that Layer to the selection. With a selection, deselecting by Layer subtracts the Items on that Layer from the selection. This is not a bug in casu because this can be the intention of the function. Adding or Subtracting.
Intuitively ‘selecting by Layer’ to retrict to that Layer solely has only the desired effect if no selection existed before. Deselecting by Layer with no previous selection should mention there was none to start with. Selecting by Layer from an empty Layer should mention that nothing is added.
Faults are prone to make.
Selecting a Layer uniquely would be an interesting additional feature.

1709 | QCAD (main) | Feature Request | Very Low | Feature request: Add extra padding to textbox. | Closed
|
Task Description
When placing text on a drawing you are offered with the choice of where you want the origin of the textbox to be. That’s very nice. Image 1 shows an example of text with top left origin. It seems there is already some top padding above the text.
Unfortunately there is no option to add extra padding to the other sides so the text is right to the left border of the textbox. To correct this you have to add some parallel construction lines and move the text a bit to the right. Now the text has nice padding. See image 2.
It would be nice to have some padding options when adding/editing text, like in web-design: https://www.w3schools.com/css/css_padding.asp

1764 | QCAD (main) | Feature Request | Low | Zoom in with middle click | Closed

Task Description
I would suggest adding a feature Inkscape has, which is that a single middle click zooms in. This is not at the detriment of panning, since the mouse/pen (I use a Wacom tablet) doesn’t move. Right now middle click doesn’t do anything so I don’t think it should be a problem.
Another awesome and related Inkscape zooming feature is that Shift+middle click shifts to window zooming. But with the added bonus that you don’t lose the tool you’re in. Try it out on Inkscape if I’m not clear!
Cheers, JFL

1856 | QCAD (main) | Feature Request | Low | SVG import: add support for rotate transformations with ... | Closed
|
Task Description
QCAD seems either to mishandle or ignore svg group transformations altogether.
Importing the attached file into QCAD renders the largest polygon (polygon18) to be rotated and misplaced. This is shown in actual.png. The expected result (original Inkscape renedering) is shown in expected.png.
Looking at the code of the original drawing it can be observed there is a transformation applied to the group which polygon18 is in:
<g
style="stroke-width:0.35433099;stroke-miterlimit:4;stroke-dasharray:none"
id="g20"
transform="rotate(-90,316.66796,298.95141)" >
<path
inkscape:connector-curvature="0"
id="polygon18"
d="..." />
Removing the ‘transform’ attribute produces virtually identical (erroneous) rendering in Inkscape as well.

Task Description
I use gcode ripper for some of my jobs. (see here: https://www.scorchworks.com/Gcoderipper/gcoderipper.html) This is a large python script that I use to wrap flat code around a cylinder for engraving. What I would like to see is a way to run it from my own custom post processor that I wrote for my machine. Maybe some kind of keyword that allows me to specify an arbitrary external command with some parameters. It would be very helpful to me. I create a lot of ad-hock jobs to run.
