Dear Andrew, this might seem an obsolete feature, though I recently tried to look it up, the man-page ;) So attached a quick shot; please use if you like and do not frown the additional maintenance. (quick test: man -l /tmp/qcad.1)

1403 QCAD (main)Feature RequestLow Copy and Paste vectorpoint to built a spline in QCAD Closed
100%
Task Description

Would it be possible like in AutoCAD and Draftsight, to copy (from CSV or TXT) into the command line of qcad a table with
vectorpoint to built up a Spline in QCAD ?

Sample:
Spline
10.5,10(LR+CR)
20.8,20.4(LR+CR)

and so on

this text would than paste into the command line, and works like a macro.

Will be very helpful to generate a Spline where the vectorpoint had been calculated with for example “Excel”

1435 QCAD (main)Feature RequestLow Default Template for new Drawing Closed
100%
4 Task Description

It would be great if the user could choose a default template for new drawings.

There exists already a “File → New from Template” feature, where I can choose a template, but in most cases I want my new drawings to be based on my default template.
It would be very convenient if there is an option to set the default template and use it for the “File → New” function.

1439 QCAD (main)Feature RequestLow New CAM feature proposal: Cutplan (nesting) Closed
100%
Task Description

After designing one ore more parts you may want to produce them.

Maybe it is a flat part, made out of copper sheet metal. You need several copies of the part and you wonder how you can arrange them on your sheet metal in a clever way, so that you end up with as little waste as possible.

And here software could really speed up the process. It would be a great addition to QCADs CAM abilities if it would be able to produce a cutplan.

Enter the size of the sheet metal (or whatever material), select the part(s), enter number of copies and let QCAD find the best way(s) of arrangement. Additional parameters could be clearance between parts and border margin.

1531 dwg2svgFeature RequestLow dwg2maptiles: add support for transparent background Closed
100%
Task Description

Trying to create map tiles using dwg2maptiles with a transparent background by adding the option-

The output has transparent background but the PNGs get multiplied and scrambled and are not at all as expected.

Attached: original DWG file and an example of the error prone PNG.

1539 QCAD (main)Feature RequestLow One more "Offset" option: Infinitive Line ... Closed
100%
1 Task Description

hi,

I miss one Offset option to use an offset indirectly related to the used entity. Right now I have to work with further construction lines and trim, divide, delete etc. tools to archive what I need.
Basically an offset as a ray would be enough but unfortunately we have no control of the Ray orientation.
This said - it would be nice to have an infinitive line added to the “Offset Polyline Segment” option to be able to use an Offset as construction line which is not only reflecting the shape of the source.

1573 QCAD (main)Feature RequestLow add reference point input to copy paste Closed

It woul be really handy if there is an option to set the reference point of the copy selection.
Maybe this can be added to the clipboard widget?

1588 QCAD (main)Feature RequestLow "hole" realisation Closed
100%
Task Description

Trying to design PCB with QCad (as hobby ;) I found an inconvenience with routing tracks through holes: I need end one line, snapped to the one edge of contact pad and start new line from other side of the pad, otherwise if line goes through the hole and covers it, hole disappears or becomes damaged; or I need to clean each hole of track parts before printing.

so, subject is: to define a certain area of white or background colour, so if any object (line or other shape) intersects it, it will be just invisible inside this area. they may still be visible, say, in draft mode.

I’ve been thinkig about simpliest way to make it, but not sure. Maybe it can be an additional property of the hatch, or it can be specific “background” solid colour, which can be applied to the hatch (apply this colour to other kind of object is not a good idea).

Then contact pad can be defined as shape with smaller round hatch inside to designate hole, so we can route lines, snapping them to the hole centers, not caring about clearing these holes later of little pieces of tracks.

Maybe it can be usefull :) Thanks for your great work!

1643 ECMAScriptFeature RequestLow Modify > Explode: make drawing order predictable Closed
100%
Task Description

Usecase:
Multiple entities ( for example polylines ) get exploded...

BUG:
the exploded lines have all the same drawing ids the old entities had, a consequence of this is that when one explodes and then exports to dxf file the line order get’s scrambled wildly
the exported order is “random”!

SUGGESTED FIX:
sort the selected entities by their id first then
after copying attributes ⇒ also set the order of the elements to the default order !
( see fix in sourcecode attached )

Option to remember / configure specific folder to save to when creating a library block.

Currently every time I want to create a library item I have to navigate to where I want to save the block - unless this is a bug and not working properly? I set the library path and re-started QCAD, but it doesn’t seem to work for me now!

1654 QCAD (main)Feature RequestLow Edit > Convert Drawing Unit: convert viewports Closed

1708 QCAD (main)Feature RequestLow Layer > Select Layer: add feedback Closed
100%
Task Description

Win 7
Q-CAD 3.19.2

R-Click in Layer list
With a selection, selecting by Layer adds the Items on that Layer to the selection.
With a selection, deselecting by Layer subtracts the Items on that Layer from the selection.
This is not a bug in casu because this can be the intention of the function. Adding or Subtracting.

Intuitively ‘selecting by Layer’ to retrict to that Layer solely has only the desired effect if no selection existed before.
Deselecting by Layer with no previous selection should mention there was none to start with.
Selecting by Layer from an empty Layer should mention that nothing is added.

Faults are prone to make.

Selecting a Layer uniquely would be an interesting additional feature.

1764 QCAD (main)Feature RequestLow Zoom in with middle click Closed
100%
1 Task Description

I would suggest adding a feature Inkscape has, which is that a single middle click zooms in. This is not at the detriment of panning, since the mouse/pen (I use a Wacom tablet) doesn’t move. Right now middle click doesn’t do anything so I don’t think it should be a problem.

Another awesome and related Inkscape zooming feature is that Shift+middle click shifts to window zooming. But with the added bonus that you don’t lose the tool you’re in. Try it out on Inkscape if I’m not clear!

Cheers,
JFL

1856 QCAD (main)Feature RequestLow SVG import: add support for rotate transformations with ...Closed
100%
Task Description

QCAD seems either to mishandle or ignore svg group transformations altogether.

Importing the attached file into QCAD renders the largest polygon (polygon18) to be rotated and misplaced. This is shown in actual.png. The expected result (original Inkscape renedering) is shown in expected.png.

Looking at the code of the original drawing it can be observed there is a transformation applied to the group which polygon18 is in:

 <g
   style="stroke-width:0.35433099;stroke-miterlimit:4;stroke-dasharray:none"
   id="g20"
   transform="rotate(-90,316.66796,298.95141)" >
   <path
      inkscape:connector-curvature="0"
      id="polygon18"
      d="..." />

Removing the ‘transform’ attribute produces virtually identical (erroneous) rendering in Inkscape as well.

1966 dwg2pdfFeature RequestHigh Add a new option to convert all blocks to pdfs Closed

Task Description

Relative to https://www.ribbonsoft.com/bugtracker/index.php?do=details&task_id=1965

I suggest that if dwg2pdf have an new options that can convert all the blocks to pdf.
Now, I need to know all the block names before converting.

But if I put qcad on server, the computer won’t know how many blocks in the dwg and their names.

For examples:

There are 4 blocks in dwg.block1, block2, block3, block4

Command line: ./dwg2pdf -block-all path

Result: block1.pdf block2.pdf block3.pdf block4.pdf

1981 QCAD/CAMFeature RequestLow I would like an external post processor Closed
100%
Task Description

I use gcode ripper for some of my jobs. (see here: https://www.scorchworks.com/Gcoderipper/gcoderipper.html) This is a large python script that I use to wrap flat code around a cylinder for engraving. What I would like to see is a way to run it from my own custom post processor that I wrote for my machine. Maybe some kind of keyword that allows me to specify an arbitrary external command with some parameters. It would be very helpful to me. I create a lot of ad-hock jobs to run.

Thanks,
Chuck Tilbury

2021QCAD (main)Performance IssueVery LowCannot work with big dwg filesAssigned
0%
Task Description

Openning a big file or doing any action in it, takes minutes to load.
Even dragging the scrollbar slightly left or right, takes mintues to redraw the canvas again, which makes QCAD un-usable for professional use.
Is there a way to make QCAD usable, after loading completed:
- Like suppressing edit until user says so,
- or taking snapshots of rendered canvases to another file and use it, as windows uses thumb.db ( for negative latency :P )

PS: I wish I could help a bit, but my hand are tied. I am just a java freak, I am opt to any idea of porting it to java, if she is still alive.
