The bug:
When copying the objects from the first drawing and pasting them to the current layer of the second drawing, both layers present in the first drawing are created and are empty. 100%
1 Task Description

Hello,

The attached patches are used to build QCAD on FreeBSD.

Notes:

- patch-shared_app.pri adds a dependency to libexecinfo. It is marked as fixed in  FS#876 , but still there.

It could be useful also for the other BSDs.

- patch-src_3rdparty_opennurbs_opennurbs_system.h remove malloc.h. It is marked as fixed in  FS#875 , but still there.

- patch-src_3rdparty_3rdparty.pro, patch-src_core_core.pro, patch-src_core_math_RSpline.h and patch-src_entity_entity.pro allow to use opennurbs as a dependency from the ports system, which is the recommended method, but you may ignore them in the general distribution sources if you prefer.

- patch-src_core_RSettings.cpp is specific to the ports system (”/usr/local/share/qcad” is not really hardcoded, and modified according to $PREFIX at build time): you may ignore it if you want.

Best regards,

Th. Thomas

1 Task Description

If I “Trim Both” a pair of lines which already meet, then neither line changes appearance on screen (as expected). However, after saving and reloading the file, both lines are now missing.

To reproduce:

  1. Create a new drawing
  2. Draw a 10×10 square
  3. Save the drawing
  4. Close and reopen. The square shows up as expected.
  5. Use the Trim Both tool on a pair of lines meeting at one of the corners. No change in the display.
  6. Save the drawing
  7. Close and reopen. The lines used in step 5. have disappeared.

If one or both of the lines changes length, either lengthened or shortened, then the changed line is preserved.

Build Date: Oct 25 2013
Qt Version: 4.7.4
Compiler: MSVC++ 10.0 (2010)

1071 QCAD (main)Feature RequestVery Low (Bitmap) scaling convenience option Closed
100%
1 Task Description

This can be done as is in QCAD today, but a quick convenience UI bit would be much appreciated.

Suppose you are working off a bitmap image (transcribing old scan, or you got your apartment’s floor plan like this, because, uh, what tenant needs DXF). It has dimensions markers and everything, but fat chance it’ll be to actual CAD scale after importing.

So, to bring it to scale, you measure between two tick marks on the scale, compute ratio based on measurement and what’s written on the dimension line, and do a scale operation (you can also have QCAD compute the ratio by using math expression, whatever).

That works fine.

A purely just for convenience function to do that would be much appreciated: pick two points, enter what the actual distance between them is, poof bam, appropriate scaling operation is applied.

As a twist, there could be some other bitmap skewing options, like “the points I’ve selected are on a horizontal/vertical line/at an angle of X degrees, then the bitmap would also be applied this transform.

1076 QCAD/CAMBug ReportHigh Crash on Mac OS X when using internal Trackpad Closed
100%
1 Task Description

Hi,

I have just updated my Mac OS from 10.9.2 to 10.9.4. QCAD 3.6.2 seems to be working normally under the newest version of Mac OS, but has developed a very specific bug which leads to reproducible crashes when a text object is edited.

Steps to minimally reproduce:
1. Open QCAD
2. Create a text object
3. Place the text object on the canvas
4. double-click the text object and edit its contents
5. click OK to accept changes
6. repeat from step 4 three or four times.

After several attempts to edit a text object, QCAD will crash with EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS) in thread 0 (QCoreApplication).
The crash can also be triggered by moving the text object around on the canvas (instead of editing its contents).
The bug does not require anything else (no other objects on the canvas, no particular font, occurs in both new and previously saved documents).

Apart from this bug, QCAD seems to work fine on OS X 10.9. The text editing crash did not occur before the latest OS update. No other applications on my system seem to be having any problems. If this problem can be fixed, I think QCAD will be quite usable on 10.9.

1096 QCAD (main)Feature RequestLow SVG import: support scale transforms Closed
100%
1 Task Description

Add support for scale transforms in SVG import.

Original report:

When importing an SVG created with Inkscape, one of the elements (rectangle) is shifted (mirrored?) to the left.
The example (back.svg) is appended. If you open it with Inkscape, you see the rectangle should be above the “USB” label.

My impression is that the sign of the X coordinate is swapped for some reason. At least if I mirror it
using two points on the Y axis, it seems to appear where it should be.

Apart from this, also the dimensions are wrong after import. In the original SVG, the outer shape is 144.3mm wide.
This is also visible in the header of the SVG:

 width="144.300mm"
 height="53.800mm"

However, after importing to QCad, the width is measured as 40.7247. This is a puzzling factor of 3.5433 which doesn’t look
like metric/imperial conversion issue but like a complete misinterpretation of the sizes/units used in the SVG.

Hello,

I am stage manager and I have been using QCAD PRO nearly every day for 2 years now.
But since yesterday it seems that text is not saved within the file : when I reopen a saved file, text doesn’t show up. Do I miss a setting ?
I currently run Mac OS X Mavericks but there haven’t been any issues with this OS for months.

I deleted the app and prefs and tried out with 3.6.0 (which I don’t use because it often quits brutally), and also the free version of 3.6.4
But the issue still the same.

As I use this app for my work, it is very annoying not to be able to use text !

1 Task Description

Hi,

if I have an arc and use the Property Editor to get the Geometrical information I always miss the total angle of the arc.

Yes - I have the Start and the End angle but to get the Total angle I have to draw construction lines to be able to use the Angular Dim or Info angle tool /or I need to use a pocket calculator ...

It would be nice to have this calculated by QCAD - I assume it can’t be that difficult to design an extra field which will display, based on the start and end angle, the total angle of an arc.

What do you think?

1142 QCAD/CAMFeature RequestLow Distance Entry in "Feet and Inches" Closed
100%
1 Task Description

I use architectural units everyday in QCAD and would appreciate being able to enter feet and inches from the “command line” for convenience and accuracy.

I have been entering “calculations” to arrive at the distance values (i.e. 10*12+6.125 = 10’-6 1/8”), but this method is time consuming and prone to input error.

I would like to see Acad’s architectural distance method implemented in QCAD. This entry method would replace the “calculated” entry with (as an example): 10’6-1/8.

Command Line: Next point: 10’6-1/8
The <’> mark triggers a 12 times multiplier for the proceeding number,
the next number is the whole inches and
the ↔ is a separator that adds the fraction to the whole inches before it.

Thanks for considering this feature request. I’m certain that many QCAD users in the Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical and Construction professions wold appreciate this convenience (especially those moving past Acad).

The new tool “Paste along entity” is very useful! But I work mostly in mechanical engineering and would like to see more options to determine where it has to start with the first insert item.

Screenshot:

1. That is how it works right now - no chance to get it started on both ends of an line.

2. If I need to have my items also on the ends I have to use additional the normal “Paste” function.

3. If I could tell the “Paste along entity” that there is a start and end “Base” dimension then I’m a big step further. ;-)

I could tell the tool that it has to start at “0” or at “25” and the rest is just regarding the calculation. Correct?

However - you need many times in mechanical engineering etc. a hole pattern which will start at:

0,25,25,25,25,25,25,25,25,0

or

25, 123.5, 123.5, 123.5, 123.5, 123.5, 25

It would be very nice to have this also in combination with the “Paste along entity” tool ;-)

I would like to see the installer not stop because there is already a version of QCAD installed. This is the only product that I have used in recent history that requires the prior version to be uninstalled before the new version can be installed.

Please consider removing this requirement and let the installer do an update.

Thanks
Jim

Attributes are not fixed on their layer. When changing the content of an attribute the content is automatically placed on the active layer not on the attribute layer.
It would be much better if changing an attribute would not result in a change of the assigned layer.
For an example look also on www.qcad.org/rsforum/viewtopic.php?f=89&t=3870

When I try to make a tangential snap of an existing line to a circle by moving one line end to the circle, qcad snaps to a wrong snap point on the circle.

1387 QCAD (main)Bug ReportLow Offset tool not working on rounded polylines Closed

When “offset whole polyline” is selected and the mouse is moved over a rounded polyline, the preview is not working at least in Window 7/8.
This worked in older versions e.g. 3.6.3.

There is an example appended with an edged inner polyline and a rounded outer one. For the inner one, the offset preview is working as expected, for the rounded one it isn’t. Tested on two different PCs, one Win7 and the other one Win8.

Hello everybody,

I’m using QCAD 3.14.3 on Ubuntu Linux 64bit wit a two monitor enviroment.
When I place the option toolbar from the top of main window onto the second monitor, it’s impossible to input a distance. The cursor is missing.
Seems that the input-field is only working correct, when the option toolbar is connected to the main-window.

Hope I described the issue understandable, if not, please don’t hesitate to ask me for further descriptions...

Whould be nice to fix this bug...

Best regards

Andreas
