If I use the mouse-pointer in the Scale tool I’m not able to do an inversely proportional scale.
x - y locked or unlocked doesn’t matter in combine with the mouse pointer ...

Modify - Round - Click polyline - round all corners

Using a horizontally/vertically ray means always I have to use a preset Reference point which is 0° for the horizontal Ray and 90° for the vertically Ray. The Reference point Option Box is deactivated.

It would be nice to be able to choose by myself between a Start and End Reference point like the vert./horiz. Line options.

We do not have a Radian measure tool but we can change the labeling of a Angular Dimensioning ...

It would be nice to have a “Radian measure symbol” in the Property Editor / Geometry / Label / Insert Symbol List.

After all, print preview is not just the drawing on white, isn’t it? Everything else should stay in drawing units. Just the rulers, maybe a preference?

unfortunately I need to use from time to time different Units in a drawing. It works nice with the Scale possibility but to keep my drawing readable I need to label then the DIM accordingly. Sadly I don’t have a Postfix option so I work with a workaround what means I use <>”, or <>’ and <>mm in the Prefix field. If I then terminate the DIM tool and start it again I will loose my settings except the Scale Factor.

May I ask for an additional Postfix option or/and a remember functionality of those fields?

Points on line: enter distance instead of number of points as a variant of the tool or as a new tool.

To add a Plot Stamp option for printing, to have options to print file name, date , time etc...

Input:

1. X axis min/max or choose line (?) or center (for polar functions)

Output:

Some functions / methods can generate some sort off entity or part with NaN / Null / Null-lenght ... props.
Some explicitly don’t and test their actions with isNull().

As these serve a purpose in some processes, trails of them can be part of the results.
For some users Null / Null-lenght are meaningfull, for other users these produce errors down the line.
In a few cases its a desirable feature eg. controlpoint spline.
(Allthough there are no Null props involved with equal successively controlpoints)

Many problem post on the forum are related to Null - Zero and so on.

In some cases it can’t be undone by re-editing the drawing.

It would be good to have an option to be able to place the text to the left or right,maybe just a simple check box? please see attached screenshot to explain. In this instance (and I have to do this a lot ;)) I had to explode the dimension entity and rearrange the text manually :(

Currently the only option to insert a viewport is using the central insertion point, for better placement it would be useful to have an option to insert viewports at any of the four corners in addition to the centre.

I think it would be nice to have the possibility to decide a fixed Text and Dimension (inclusive Arrows) height what is not affected by the Print scale. That means: If I have a given height of 3,5mm it will always be printed with 3,5mm - no matter what the scale for the printing is.
Yes, I see also the problem that I could run in space problems after I twitch to the Print preview - but that will also happen when I change the Text hight in the preferences for a 5:1 printing.
Maybe this Feature Request doesn’t looks important if you are usually working with Metric Units but if you have to handle Imperial Units then it is a pain in the back to make always the calculation to get the same heights.
Try it by your self; 3,5mm = 0.137795” = 1”:1” Now I like to print it in 1”:256” ops - to small - ok 1”:64” ... no, to big, maybe 1”:128” .......and QCad can’t remember the previously numbers.

Offsetting 32 polys from ellipses fails.
Offsetting 16 polys can be completed with 2 selections for outer and 2 for inner.

For some reason the offset function halts premature.

When I’m drawing inside a layout block the offset tool picks up lines from blocks that are hidden.
It is not happening with all the block.

It would be really cool to have a Note book tool for QCAD!

For example I am often working on a draft and at the same time scribbling notes down on a separate piece of paper relating to the drawing I am working on, could be anything e.g. add a block,add a dimension etc. etc... all sorts of things to remind myself about - all related to a particular drawing.

Of course I could use any number of other programs for this but a simple dedicated tool inside QCAD (could be called the ‘QCAD scribbler ;)) would be much better, especially one that can save the notes to a particular file, then when I open up my drawing again - my notes are there too!

Just starting with QCAD, for some hours now - really excellent user interface (compared to other low budget CADs, like DCAD, or BeckerCAD...) !

Surprisingly, point coordinates - entered via the command line, and shown with correct positions on the drawing- are not displayed correctly with the ‘dimordinate’ (DO) command.
There are no negative values, even when the center point (0;0) is right in the middle of the drawing, so points left and below should have !

if I need to design a bolt circle (circle on circle) and the single bolt diameter and the quantity of circles are given then I can use the QCAD Polygon Tool “Polygon 2 Points of Side” ... but for the Length of the side I have to do a workaround (Line with this length) to determine the desired length.

It would be very convenient to have an additional tool for a Polygon which has the possibility to ask me for the center, corners and the length of the sides.

A ' Multi ' Breakout tool or added option to the existing Breakout tool.

For example see attached image.

An option to remove all segments within a chosen boundary would be good, in my example I want to remove all the hatching within the Red circle.

So after exploding the Hatch, currently I have to remove all segments singularly!

Of course I could have placed the circle first and hatched around it - but in this and most instances it is easier to design and to produce the Hatching first and then place my circle/shapes etc.

“Paste” has already the options: To current layer, Overwrite layers, Overwrite blocks.

Would be a nice time saver to have the same options for “Paste along Entity” too.

The modify stretch tool wants first and second corner, start and end point, then starts afresh. When I turn on restrict horizontally eg to align two points between start and end, the restriction sticks and I have to call restrict none, to be able to perform the next iteration, set the first corner then.

So, in the quest for a comfortable user interface, it was nice, if the modify stretch first/second corners parameter setting was not affected by current restrict/ortho etc. settings. Actually, that does not make any sense at all anyways, does it, a rectangle is defined by two degrees of freedom, isnt it?

Blaming this on incompetence.
Insight is the best way to get better ...
... but the rest is more an odd choice of tools for this kind of task ...

Again, the MISTAKE was by accident, not intended, in a flick of the wrist ...
I didn’t change the trimming method, I simply forgot to ... only once.

The ‘undo’ of my incompetent MISTAKE didn’t returned to how the situation was before I erroneous trimmed with TM.
I was simply undoing my erroneous action.

Documented it in 4 quadrants.
For this, 4 times on purpose, and not as a consistent ‘odd choice’.

The method Polyline from Segments (OC) can be configured for tolerance and simplification in the Options Toolbar.
The method Polyline from Selection (OG) has no UI or none showing.

OG retrieves a tolerance from QCAD.ini, what is initially not set:

    var tolerance = RSettings.getDoubleValue("PolylineFromSelection/Tolerance", 0.001);

The tolerance will be default = 0.001 similar as the default in AppPrefs.
The tolerance setting is included in QCAD.ini after changing the AppPrefs entry.

OG calls PolylineFromSelection.autoJoinSegments with this tolerance:

    var counter = PolylineFromSelection.autoJoinSegments(di, tolerance, this);

PolylineFromSelection.autoJoinSegments calls PolylineFromSegments.createPolylineShape
with simplification hard coded to true. (last parameter)

I would like to see the simplification optional and default = true.

Provide configuration option to raise / lower maximum reference points that are shown for selected entities (currently fixed to 1000).

Original report:

Imported a spline-dxf from adobe illustrator. Converted the spline to polyline with explode command. Then no anchor points / vertex points / vertices were showing anymore. Simplified the polyline so that it had less than 1000 points. Vertices became visible.

I think some freeform objects need actually more than 1000 vertices. Also them need to be edited. Please increase the amount of vertices showing to biginteger

I am using mac version and I have annoying issue with trackpad.
I use qcad primary with my trackpad and under application preferences (Graphics View/Navigation), my setting is as follows.
Mouse wheel / two finger swipe: Scroll (Trackpad...
Enable pan gesture : unticked (found that enabling this often goes into pan mode when I am just moving my pointer around)
Limit zoom and scroll to prevent overflows : ticked (hoping that this would prevent weird zooming issue. I will describe what I am experiencing later this page)
Reverse mouse wheel direction for zoom :unticked
Mouse wheel zoom factor: 1.02

Things work as expected:

• panning with two finger swipe

• and the rest

Issue I am experiencing:

Often, when I am zooming in and out with two finger gestures, the view suddenly sets to some weird state and my drawing goes off the ruler.
The mouse point remains where it is.

Workaround:
Reset viewpoint with autozoom and navigate around.

Expected zoom behaviour:
I expect viewpoint to zoom in / out at where my mouse pointer is or at least the centre of current view point.

It is nice that I can scale or rotate a block - but right now I see also a big plus in a kind of locking function for Blocks.
It would be nice to have a “locked” option ad least for the scaling of blocks.

Example: Think about Clives “Radiator ‘Cover’ screen” http://www.qcad.org/rsforum/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=2060 and how you could manipulate this screen with “scale blocked blocks”

Often I find myself clicking on an existing line to determine the angle from the property editor, then copying and pasting this info into the angle field, it would be so very useful to have an additional option in the ‘Line from Angle’ tool to be able to pick an existing entity which would automatically register and fill in the angle for me,then all I would need to do would enter the length required.

It would be very helpful if the library browser had a delete function.

I know that this can be very risky for some people, but it is the easiest
way to see clearly what you delete.

If I move something and it went wrong I can easily undo the last move and start over without the need of a re-selection.
If I copy something and it went wrong I can undo the last copy but I have to re-select everything again.

It would be nice to keep the once chosen selection in both “undo” situation!

Same with similar functions like rotate etc. ....

With that new feature the information tool shows the absolute paper units in the print preview mode instead of drawing units.
So you can determine the exact size of an entity in the printout without manual calculating with the drawing units and the scale factor.

If I use the Info tool “Polygonal area” with the option “Add measurement to the drawing” I always have to edit the Value to make clear that we now looking to an area value like m² or ft².

I was thinking that a pre labeling (prefix/postfix) like the normal Dim tools could save me a couple extra steps ...

It would be nice if the Info Tool / Add Measurement to drawing option would use the same settings like the “Dimension settings” for Font and Text height. It’s a kind of similar function in a drawing and should have the same style. Maybe with an on/off switch?

Import tables in CSV format and display them in the drawing as lines and text.

At our QCAD Drawing window, below right corner, we have the Info displayed what are the Grid / Meta Grid settings.
It would be nice to have additional the Info for the drawing unit ...

Absolutely love the new options for adding the measurements in the current drawing.

I would like to see an additional option for only adding the text and not the lines also, maybe a simple check box would suffice here.

Of course at the moment I am able to use the property editor to select only the lines and move to a new layer and hide!

When working with several files is normal also to work in several folders, this can be confusing, expecially in the case where there are different folders with equal file names.
I propose the creation of a “Open file location”. This, probably under the main menu, “File”, when clicked would open the standard
“file explorer” with the folder that contains the current file already selected.
It would be quite similar to the windows 8/10 “Open file location”.

The Arc segments of Polylines with Global or any Local Width render faulty where Global Z or any of the arc’s local Z is not zero.

In the attached drawing setting the Global Z of the inner poly to 5,10,...

The setting of Z to not zero affects the radius of the projected arc and not the bulging of the poly.
It also affects the projected widths of the line inversely, but not by changing the widths properties.

Pritty rare combination! True.
Qcad is 2D native! True.

Flatten will resolve this.

It is not a purely visual rendering fault, the poly will explode as such.

Maybe similar flaw as with uneven scaling blocks with arcs.

Polyline arcs with Width = 2R render as circle segments rather than circle sectors.
As Non-reversed arcs these don’t explode.
As reversed arc these explode to a single arc rather than a circle sector contour.

There is also still the faulty rendering with Z not zero

It would be very useful to have an extra option to only detect duplicates within a user defined area.

When working with the isometric grid (in any projection - Top, Right, Left) and drawing from ‘scratch’ as it were, without using the projection tools - I find myself using ‘Line from Angle’ the most.

It would be extreamly useful to be presented with two extra buttons when using this tool, a 30 degree button and a -30 degree button, this way I wouldn’t need to keep typing in the angle difference here.

Is it possible to add?

Autodes DWG TrueView 2017 has this function and it is very useful.
Here you can see a screenshot of this function.
