The Midpoint Handles should be used to move Polyline Segments and lines. This would add easy to access stretch functionality.
Combined with a shortcut(hold down shift or alt etc.) to fix the movement to be orthogonal to the line this would bring a lot of extra value.
It would also be possible to to have another shortcut to easily insert nodes to Polylines (again hold shift or alt etc.)

Add attribute value “By Parent” for color, line weight, line style for child layers.

I find myself with reasonable regularity needing to change the background color between black and white. It would be much more efficient to have a toggle button on the ribbon to make this sort of instant (kind of like the “screen based line types” button works but make it for background color and just between black and white or let people define their dark and light themes and toggle the background between the two.

As a heavy mechanical drawings user, it would help a lot to have an option to exit a block saving as a new name and making it a new entity from that time ahead.

Example: if a have a lot of screws, one of then is behind another peace and need the to have some lines changed to hidden style lines, in the flow of the work is great if I edit that screw in place and when exiting have the option to save as a new block, to don’t mess with other entities of the same block that I don’t want to change. Yes, there is a workaround that is duplicate and rename the block prior to the editing, but a save as seems to work easier.

The option for vertically and diagonally stacked fractions would be helpful for both the text creation tool and as the output of dimensions.

To have the option to set your own ‘user defined’ line weight.

E.g. use Millimeters for construction while dimensions are displayed in Meters.

The inside corners of profile tool paths have rounded inside corners. This occurs because the rounded outside the bit cannot make it all the way into the corner of the feature. Think of tracing the inside wall of a cardboard box with a can of soup. The can makes direct contact with the box walls, but its
round shape is unable to completely fit into the tight corners— there’s always a gap.

In a dog-bone overcut (see the figure in attachment), the inside profile corner is enlarged into a semicircle, allowing the sharp edges of the mating piece to slide through without interference.

When a dog bone is applied to the inside corners, as shown in the second figure in the attachment, the joints fit together nicely!

There are two ways to implement this tool. Either you modify the original design (as implemented in Fusion 360) or you can do it at the moment you define the tool path (Estlcam allows you to do this for example). See the feature Corner overcut, on Estlcam website

I’m already able to use the Circle tool “2 Tangents and radius” to accomplish this task but it is a lot of break out etc. action needed to clean the shape afterward.

Because modifying hatches have lag issues I’d like to propose a toggle that turns of the redrawing/rendering of the hatch. Especially while modifying the hatch.

The hatches always have a boundary that can be worked with right? So when we move or stretch the hatch we can still see the boundary and its handles to perform all the actions.

This could be a new view mode that turns of the view of the interior/pattern of the hatch but leave the boundary of the hatch.
Or the draft mode can be extended to include simplified hatches while modifying.

Tools to add control points to existing splines and remove control points.

I would like to request a new kind of snap: a “Restricted Intersection” snap that appears at the point where an entity would intersect with a line drawn from Relative Zero that fulfills the current EL criteria. “Restricted Intersection” snaps would be similar to other Relative Zero-based snaps (like “Perpendicular” and “Tangential”), but would predict the point of the snap from the EL constraints instead of the characteristics of the entity being snapped to. Naturally a value of 0 for angle or length would result in that constraint being ignored.

Additional operational flexibility could be achieved by allowing the snap to exist regardless of whether EL is actually in use. To be useful this would probably require determining snap locations based on angle OR length as opposed to angle AND length.

Implementing this new snap would allow, for example, for easily drawing a line of unknown (but determinable) length at a specified angle between a given point and a given entity (see discussion here), with the “Restricted Intersection” snap ensuring that the endpoint of the new line forms an intersection with the entity in question. Currently the same goal can be achieved a couple of different ways, but they all involve at least two separate steps.

If I use the mouse-pointer in the Scale tool I’m not able to do an inversely proportional scale.
x - y locked or unlocked doesn’t matter in combine with the mouse pointer ...

Could you add “plain text paste” as ctrl-shift-V
Why? Because sometimes the clipboard comes in with rich text formatting that’s anti-helpful.
The workaround is to paste into a plain text editor, or the console, then recopy and repaste into qCad.

Either way the ctrl-shift-V shortcut is useful for those trained on other software but:
one could also argue that qCad should NEVER take rich text, and rather only accept the plain text with both CTRL-V and CTRL-SHIFT-V.

Even copying Info measurements from the Command Line are Rich Text.

Using a horizontally/vertically ray means always I have to use a preset Reference point which is 0° for the horizontal Ray and 90° for the vertically Ray. The Reference point Option Box is deactivated.

It would be nice to be able to choose by myself between a Start and End Reference point like the vert./horiz. Line options.

We do not have a Radian measure tool but we can change the labeling of a Angular Dimensioning ...

It would be nice to have a “Radian measure symbol” in the Property Editor / Geometry / Label / Insert Symbol List.

Easy transfer of properties from one entity to others

I guess this is a case of wording and wrong expectations.

The polyline tool “Delete Segments between two nodes” removes nodes, but not segments as the title and the icon suggests.

I propose to rename it to “Delete Nodes between two nodes”.

A tool which actually removes line segments from a polyline, leaving gaps, could indeed be useful to some users.

I think of a straight polyline with several segments. Then I remove some segments. I end up with a polyline with “holes” in it. Now I could stretch that polyline and all the remaining segments and holes stretch proportionally. Could be handy some times.

Points on line: enter distance instead of number of points as a variant of the tool or as a new tool.

To add a Plot Stamp option for printing, to have options to print file name, date , time etc...

It would be helpful to have the added option to lengthen/Shorten from both ends of entity at the same time.

Some times I need to have the dimension info using the Vertical Dimension tool displayed horizontally.

Possibly this option could be added to the Label drop down menu.

It would be nice to implement the old hatch function as a tile function in parallel with the newer more industry standard hatch function. A tile function that would allow overlap +/- would be even better, and a great productivity boost, almost like an array within a set of bounds.

Add tool to construct new trace entities.
Trace entities can currently only be loaded from DXF/DWG.

New Tool request:

When drawing a line it would be good to have a tool/option to ‘run parallel with’.

For example start to draw a line and choose ‘run parallel with’, select appropriate line to draw parallel with!

if I need to design a bolt circle (circle on circle) and the single bolt diameter and the quantity of circles are given then I can use the QCAD Polygon Tool “Polygon 2 Points of Side” ... but for the Length of the side I have to do a workaround (Line with this length) to determine the desired length.

It would be very convenient to have an additional tool for a Polygon which has the possibility to ask me for the center, corners and the length of the sides.

Implement a multiline tool.

A ' Multi ' Breakout tool or added option to the existing Breakout tool.

For example see attached image.

An option to remove all segments within a chosen boundary would be good, in my example I want to remove all the hatching within the Red circle.

So after exploding the Hatch, currently I have to remove all segments singularly!

Of course I could have placed the circle first and hatched around it - but in this and most instances it is easier to design and to produce the Hatching first and then place my circle/shapes etc.

New mode for clip to rectangle: copy contents of rectangular area to clipboard.

Sometimes you end up with a straight line which is broken/split into several parts. It would be great to have a tool to merge/combine these segments into one.

That would be the opposite/complementary tool to the “Split Entities” tool.

A missing feature in my work are logical operations (combine, intersect, ..) for polylines

Example:
Draw some elements, select them, say combine. The result will be the outline of all elements.

It is nice that I can scale or rotate a block - but right now I see also a big plus in a kind of locking function for Blocks.
It would be nice to have a “locked” option ad least for the scaling of blocks.

Example: Think about Clives “Radiator ‘Cover’ screen” http://www.qcad.org/rsforum/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=2060 and how you could manipulate this screen with “scale blocked blocks”

It would be very helpful if the library browser had a delete function.

I know that this can be very risky for some people, but it is the easiest
way to see clearly what you delete.

Add support for spline shaped leaders

To improve useability/efficiency I would like to propose the following changes/additions to the layer list:

1) Combining the show and hide button into one button.

Clicking once will hide all layers, clicking again will show them all again.

2) A “lock/unlock” button.

Clicking once will lock all layers, clicking again will unlock them all again.

Regarding the icons I suggest that instead of show both the black and grey version of the eye/lock, you could switch between them depending on the state the switch-button is in. Also the mouse-over-text could/should change with the state.

If I move something and it went wrong I can easily undo the last move and start over without the need of a re-selection.
If I copy something and it went wrong I can undo the last copy but I have to re-select everything again.

It would be nice to keep the once chosen selection in both “undo” situation!

Same with similar functions like rotate etc. ....

It would be nice if the Info Tool / Add Measurement to drawing option would use the same settings like the “Dimension settings” for Font and Text height. It’s a kind of similar function in a drawing and should have the same style. Maybe with an on/off switch?

Unrelated to OS or QCAD version.

In the postprocessor configuration dialog there is a group box called ‘GroupCustom’.
One can add custom widgets to that, rename it and so on.

Such is not provided in CamProfileToolpathDialog.ui or CamDrillToolpathDialog.ui

It should be possible but we aren’t really able to mix up things with the ‘Message’ QLabel ...
A reserved QGroupBox would do the trick.

Import tables in CSV format and display them in the drawing as lines and text.

Absolutely love the new options for adding the measurements in the current drawing.

I would like to see an additional option for only adding the text and not the lines also, maybe a simple check box would suffice here.

Of course at the moment I am able to use the property editor to select only the lines and move to a new layer and hide!
