Re: (BUG) - dimension text position for dims with suppressed witness/extension lines

...If your goal is just to get rid of the extension lines and still be able to move the dim text then QCAD offers already everything what is needed. You just need to think a bit out of the box ... Yes, my goal is to get rid of extensions and be able to position dim text as desired. I hate ....

Re: (BUG) - dimension text position for dims with suppressed witness/extension lines

...A workaround like you call it is immediate, if a fix is possible it will only be included in one of the upcoming releases... I understand and agree (and am grateful for workarounds to keep me going :P ) ...There are plenty more examples of two or more markers that coincides.... Indeed (now that ...

Re: dimensions - suppress witness lines

Thank you for taking time to explain (better  :D ) what you have meant! It seems that the issue is (separate) markers for the dimension and dimension text. It would appear that when they coincide it is "impossible"? to select correct one to position dimension text as desired. You are proposing...

Re: dimensions - suppress witness lines

I am kind of lost in all your replies @CVH :? Tried your file that supposedly solves my problem... and it doesn't (at least as far as I am concerned) On the other hand I am perfectly able to manually create a Dim without witness lines. yes, I can do it as well What I did here is dragging the witness...

(BUG) - dimension text position for dims with suppressed witness/extension lines

Screenshot from 2022-06-25 16.42.07.png Two dimensions. One (on the left) - I can adjust position of dimension text at will. Other (on the right) - I have adjusted witness lines to make them disappear. All is fine, but if I do it, I no longer can adjust the position of dimension text. Is it a bug? ...

Re: copying from one file to another (solved)

I did more experiments and was unable to reproduce the problem, so it sounds like a mystery (more than likely caused by me - this particular file goes back to my early days with QCAD...)
Thank you all for your help!

Re: copying from one file to another (solved)

I will have a look at it again (tomorrow), but I am sure that it was modelled using correct numbers i.e. 2.5 not 2.4666

Re: why is it possible to delete layers...

No, they all had undo available, perhaps they had lower opinion about users  and their ability to mess up ...
Some people have to be protected from themselves
Seriously though - it was a good feature and I would vote for it to be implemented in QCAD as well.

Thank youčĹŹ
Sounds like I will have to set common standard for all my drawings if they are to be share-able

Re: why is it possible to delete layers...

I am used to (whatever CAD I was using at the time) to give me a warning that a container (layer in this case) is not empty when I try yo delete it.
I suppose I will have to be a bit more careful with QCAD :P

why is it possible to delete layers...

that are populated? Just noticed while tidying up some files for attaching to a forum post, that I was able to delete layers even though they were full of "things". This should not be possible? Version: 3.26.4.13 (3.26.4.13) Internet: QCAD.org Build Date: Nov 18 2021 Revision: fbb9f37 Qt Version: 5....

Re: copying from one file to another

As promised, two files ("source" and "destination" - I think the names are self explanatory :D )
I notice (now) two different formats (dxf and dwg) - does it make difference?
Don't know...

Re: copying from one file to another

It is most puzzling indeed and as I say no name clash at all, just blocks.
No, there is no scale involved anywhere. All is done 1:1
I also followed your idea trying to make sense of it...
Yes, I will attach sample file later (at the moment battling with another problem  )
