Import JPEG

Earlier versions allowed JPEG import. Are there any updates which would now allow this feature? If not, is there any way of importing an image into QCAD which is not in SVG format?

Re: Library elements created on 2.2.2 not opening on version

Andrew I would like to thank you for your help here. I worked out that by turning off the visibility of the various blocks, but leaving the file which removes the actual drawing, it is possible to identify which blocks to remove. I have now tried this on a couple of files and it appears to work. I w...

Re: Library elements created on 2.2.2 not opening on version

Andrew

I have just done as you suggest and the file has disappeared now from the library browser, although it still exists in the programme files. I have synchronised the browser with the library.

When you say delete block definition, is that all the information in the block list?

Re: Library elements created on 2.2.2 not opening on version

Thanks for that Andrew. Is there any way of correcting the anomaly so that these files will open in V3? I did try opening the drawings from file, which works and then over writing the original file, but that doesn't seem to enable the library item to be retrieved in every case. Or maybe explode the ...

Re: Library elements created on 2.2.2 not opening on version

Hi Andrew I don't seem able to send a sample of the drawing which won't open, but it is one of several simple elements created on a single layer which is not locked in Version 2.2.2. They are window, components and sanitary plans and elevations. Some open others don't, within the same file. I am at a...

Library elements created on 2.2.2 not opening on version 3

Hi. Just purchased version 3, running on PC with Windows 7. Library components created in the previous version have been copied into the default section of the 'Library' file of version 3 and synchronized. The library parts appear in the browser window, but only some of them can be opened into the d...

Try creating a new layer called say 'Hatch outline'. In this layer use the line tool to accurately outline the perimeter of the hatches you want then fill with the desired hatch.

Works for me.

I find the simplest way is to create a new layer called fill and quickly go round all the perimeter areas needed to be filled. this way the fill can be turned on or off as required

Some suggestions for incorporation into QCAD 3

Andrew I have been extremely impressed with QCAD as a very cost effective and simple platform with which to enter the CAD market. It is very quick to load, simple to use and remarkably versatile once you get to know the wrinkles. Here are some of the things that could be improved and hopefully will ...

Invalid or incomplete DXF format when opening in AutoCAD

PC with Vista Home Premium running QCAD version 2.2.2.1 Only very simple drawings seem to open in AutoCAD and it is necessary to change all the layers to white when in AutoCAD. Also the only succesful font is Cursive when translated. More complex drawings with drawing sheets etc,. do not open and ge...

coloured text not being retained after blocks created

Windows Vista Premium with QCAD version 2.2.2.1 Whem making drawing sheet templates, different coloured text is not saved when the block is created after inserting it back into the main drawing. It appears to revert all lines and text to the base layer information. Also some elements when scaled up ...

Text within a pre determined column width

System Windows Home Premium. QCAD version 2.2.2.1

When typing text in the text box, is it possible to restrict the column width of the text to a pre determined dimension? This is needed for descriptive elements of several sentences.

The default setting just prints a single line of text.

Thanks Andrew. I have moved all the drawings so that their reference points are on absolute zero and this has also solved the print preview window, which had trouble finding the drawings also.
