Re: Draw a line with 75° tangental to circle

Andrew, could the tangential snap be made to work with angled lines?

It works with a line from a point to a circle, because the point tells it under which angle the line passes the circle by. If the angle is given, no point should be needed. Or am I completely wrong?

Draw a line with 75° tangential to circle

Objective: Draw a line with 75° tangential to a circle Is there a tool that can do that? My steps: 1) draw circle with Center, Point (CI) 2) draw Line from Angle (LA) with 75° 3) choose Tangential (SB) and click on circle That did not work. NB: Of course I know how to "construct" a tangent...

Re: Option to set Default Template

I just reminded myself of this feature request. :-)

It would be very convenient if QCAD would start with a "new from template" drawing, where the template would be selected in the "Defaults for new drawings" section of the preferences.

Re: new dovetail script

I think the old dovetail script started as an example for scripting in QCAD. It didn't do more than draw one dovetail of fixed geometry.
I suggest to move the old script to the example scripts and replace it in its current place with my new one.

Re: new dovetail script

Bonus: When entering a dovetail gradient of 9999 or higher you get a fine finger joint with ≤0,005 mm error, with half fingers at the ends.

Re: new dovetail script

I proudly present: The Dovetail Script v2.0 :-)

Thanks to Matthias Melcher for his first dove tail script, which inspired me to follow in his steps.
And thank you, Andrew, for your help.

Please feel free to include this dovetail script in the next QCAD release.

Re: new dovetail script

I am sooo close to finishing this script.

The dovetails are drawn correctly, but at the end of the second mouse click.

Re: new dovetail script

Ok, this problem is solved. It was an uppercase/lowercase problem.

Now something is drawn, but it doesn't look like a dovetail. The lengths are correct, but the angle of two lines is not.

Re: new dovetail script

Thanks! I have used qDebug() to find out, what values my parameters have, and I found out, that they are all "undefined". So my problem is, that I don't know, how to get values from the UI to the script. For example, I can input "Number of Dovetails", but the value is not transfe...

Re: Tutorial: Writing a plugin that draws a dovetail

I have given it a try to produce a script that will take number of dovetails, height of dovetails, dovetail/pin ratio and gradient.

Try as I might, I couldn't make it work, but I have posted my attempt here:

new dovetail script

Changelog: I removed the old, defect script from this post and added a working copy at the end of this thread. My goal was to create a dovetail script with the following parameters: - number of dovetails, - height of dovetail, - dovetail gradient (usually 7:1, 6:1, 5:1 and 4:1) - dovetail/pin ratio...

How to draw a circle tangental to two arcs and a straight line

How to draw a circle tangental to two arcs and a straight line? Here is what I got: Circle_from_3_Tangents.png I want to draw a circle which is tangental to all three segments, the two arcs and the straight line. It is not difficult to fit a circle between the two arcs, but how to make it touch the ...

Re: Hatch from segments tool

I love the new "Hatch from segment" tool. Works fine. Very useful. But still... I would like to have a tool that allows hatching an area by just clicking on that area. Please consider voting for this feature: Hatching with just one click. http://www.qcad.org/bugtracker/index.php?do=details...
