Re: Cannot hatch : pattern files not visible in the list (GU

Is there a way to declare the "installation" directory ?

— a command line option : qcad --my-own-installation-directory /usr/local/share/qcad/
— a global variable in the sources : MyOwnInstallationDirectory = "/usr/local/share/qcad/"
— something else

Re: Cannot hatch : pattern files not visible in the list (GU

After a while, I found this workaround :

I copied the binary with the resources as you told :
sudo cp /usr/local/bin/qcad-bin /usr/local/share/qcad/

It works ! That's a first step !

Re: How do I define a Color etc. for a Block ....

Incredible !

Each time I have a question, you have an answer, and there is a corresponding feature !

That's the tool I need.

Thank you !

Re: Create block from selection, block vanishes

OK, thank you !
I understand now…

But this is another trap for newbies : you create a block and the block disappear ?!?

Maybe the error message could be more expressive. It took me some days to realize what was happening :)

However, thank your answers and for your time.

Re: Activate a snap mode (snap to grid) by default

OK, thank you very much ! This is perfect ! I was searching the wrong way : — I thought the snap to grid button, which appear when selecting a drawing tool (e.g. line), could be selected by default, instead of the auto snap button. — I selected the snap to grid button from the snap top menu (next to...

Re: Create block from selection, block vanishes

Yes, but when I display layer 1 again, the "disappeared" block do not reappear !

Do you have the same behavior ?

This could be a bug…
Is it ?

Comment : layer 0 is still displayed.

Workaround : reinsert the block from the block list (I just found it).

Re: How do I define a Color etc. for a Block ....

OK, thank you ! Great discovery ! I rephrase in a simpler way (useful for me, maybe for others) : 1. draw something ; 2. select it ; 3. define properties to "By block" ; 4. group it into a block (block definition) ; 5. change the block properties (block reference) in the property editor, it works ! ...

Re: Cannot hatch : pattern files not visible in the list (GU

Thanks for your really fast reply ! What is the installation directory ? It's not the home directory (e.g. ~/.qcad), isn't it ? In my installation, everything seems to be in /usr/local/share/qcad/ : fonts, libraries, patterns, plugins, scripts, ts. Fonts and libraries apparently work ; I don't know ...

Activate a snap mode (snap to grid) by default

Hi, I have to choose "snap to grid" each time I want to draw or move something. This choice is lost after the object's deselection (right click — I'm working with the mouse). I read something on it in this forum (post "[SOLVED] Snap Options Question") but I don't understand it well. I tried the Main...

Re: How do I define a Color etc. for a Block ....

Hi,

the only way I found is to edit the block, select all, change color, and then close the block…

It would be easier to select the block and change the color, but that doesn't work for me.

Cannot hatch : pattern files not visible in the list (GUI)

Hi, when I want to hatch a selection, I get the popup but the pattern list is empty. The fill function works well, however. The pat files are in the directories /usr/local/share/qcad/patterns/imperial and metric, and are readable. I can import them using the library browser but I have to hatch manua...

Re: Create block from selection, block vanishes

Hi all, I have a similar problem. I have some objects on layer 0 and I want to "block" them together. — If I select layer 1 and I hide it, when I group them, the new block disappear. When I display the layer 1, the block do not reappear. — If I select layer 1 and display it, or if I select layer 0, ...
