When I try to import an item, I choose the layer I want to import to but...QCAD has other ideas. strange thing is another import went right on the layer of my desire as you see in the picture. So is this something to do with the import item?

It appears there is only one default setting for dimension location and position? Is it possible to adjust default settings to align dimension values: above, below, between, the line? horizontal or Vertical position? near extension line left or right, centred? I don't seem to be able to find any def...

Could you please give a more step by step instruction including pictures (in preference of words) for using the align tool?
i find the instructions in the QCAD book are not very informative.

What do you mean with "template selected > scale? the templates are all 1:1 scale so first i select a template to work with, then scale the template to the correct size for drawing on. what happens is: after entering the scale factor and reference point the new template is in a somewhat zoomed state...

Please see attached, this file is zooming out when you input ZW and select a window. so basically as you see theres only the template there. template selected > scale > ZA (fail) > zoom with wheel (fail) ZW (fail)

Regarding Copy to clipboard: I have drawn an item on the wrong layer, so i thought ok we can remedy this i will copt it to the clip board paste onto a separate detail drawing as i intend anyway, then copy that to the clip board and go back and paste it on the correct layer. but no.. i have offended ...

Spontanious erratic zoom engaged in T Minus 10. 9. 8....

Trial: this file was (before closing down) suffering from warped Z axis zoom syndrome. also had developed some block recursion i think.

Can i ask what is a block recursion? You see I want to select an item and copy it or insert a block or copy to the note pad but QCAD wants to say.. Transaction failed check for locked or invisible layers or block recursions. nothing is locked, everything but the layer I'm working on is invisible as ...
