Layers in a newly added block cannot be hidden, except for the layer, that contains the block. Entities, such as Lines etc. inside of that block/insert, that inherit their visual attributes from the layer they are on, will show up wrong. Cut and Undo repairs the layers in the block. As does a Print ...

line width scaling when printing

in printouts qCAD does not scale line widths with the drawing: eg. I draw a two by two meters box with 2mm line width. - when printing with a scale of say 1:10, the strokes in the printout are still 2mm. - when printing to pdf 1:1 and printing the pdf fit to say A4 paper, strokes are much thinner. I...

Re: what is different with qcad hatches?

at first sight the hatched area looks like a black solid, only when zooming in I see, that there are virtually hundreds of lines crammed very tightly. A kind person with autocad 2007 now got a drawing of mine, and also said that the hatch is very narrow and so is causing display performance problem...

what is different with qcad hatches?

Recently I learned about the open source tool kabeja, that does a very good job in rendering pdfs from dxf (circles remain circles, even with a line pattern!), but the hatches from my qcad drawings come out wrong. Curiously, the errror looks much the same in a recent version of Adobe Illustrator: at...

Change default document settings

Can I change the default settings of blank new documents? (Also those that are generated by script.) I draw mostly things that are more than a meter tall and the dimension labels and arrows are way too small and I have to adjust them each time. I would imagine a drawing somewhere, that has the initi...

autostart.qs on windows

Now I got that one: the correct location is C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\{username}\.qcad\autostart.qs explorer will not let you create a directory that the name starts with a dot, but the dos-prompt cmd does: "mkdir .qcad". Maybe was good to add to the documentation, this is an unusual config on ...

newbie questions

I should change the topic of all of this thread - newbie questions - now only this post. I cannot get windows qcad-professional to auto-execute the autostart.qs, no matter where I put it. The thing I miss the most at the moment is the ability to put my computed drawings in a block programmatically a...

Re: external editor

So this is a real case of not RTFM. I looked through the gui, but its in the autostart.qs.

only minor nuisance now: the script is not reread, until after the whole program is restarted - this makes working with an external editor a little copious.

Thank You

Code to explain my wish

Below my starting code, it makes me wish for an ecmascript interpreter that is more to the spec: especially introspection features are missing! If you copy this to your IDE, then call the "layoutForm" function you may understand why I would like to have this a button in one of the application bars. ...

external editor

Thank you for this nifty cad application. I want to create a script, that first pops up a dialogue asking some questions and then draws from the selections. From reading the web-pages I thought the following two possible: - Have a button to start executing a script without going through the IDE, - d...
