On Windows 11, I am currently running Version:
3.27.1.0 (3.27.1).
All of a sudden I'm back into CAD due to projects and new tooling. So, think I might upgrade to a new version of QCAD.
However, these are some things that I either don't know how to do or they are missing in version 3.27:
1) Line types for individual lines in a drawing. Not global, instead line types for each line or object.
2) A package for electrical and electronic symbols, and any tools related to that. For example automatic wire routing such that I can tag a source and destination and have a wire routed around objects. etc.
Are these available in the latest PRO version?
Also, opinions on their usability are welcome.
In regards to electrical, perhaps recommendations for another software.
Thank you!
Before upgrading, a few questions.

Re: Before upgrading, a few questions.
Hi, and welcome to the QCAD forum.
1) Linetype, Lineweight and color are typically controlled by the layer.
These entity general properties or attributes are then 'By Layer'.
Refer to the tutorial Working with Layers, the first sentence is already the most important one.
Layer are intended to group things that must look alike, print alike.
Border lines, construction lines, center lines, ...
But when selected, you can assign any possible attribute combination to an entity or a selection of entities.
It is thus possible to have a thick continuous red line living on a thin dashed blue layer.
Custom entity attributes are not really advised as these don't change with the layer attributes.
Thinking of Working with Layer States.
2a) Symbols or Library items, there are some Libraries or collections of pre-installed.
Also see last section of QCAD Add-ons.
And the tutorial Working with the Part Library.
A Library item is nothing more than a small DXF snippet.
You can create your own items and collect them under a 'Library' folder.
2b) QCAD has no specialized tools for automatic wire routing.

CVH
