Drawing clock wheels and Escapements

Do you have a question you want to ask an existing QCAD user about QCAD and what you can do with it? Do you want to know if a particular feature exists? This is the place to ask.

Drawing clock wheels and Escapements

Post by chriscam » Thu Oct 22, 2020 12:26 pm

Hi,
I note it is stated that QCAD has no special design facility to draw clock wheels. There are other packages and the best todate I have found that will generate a cycloidal wheel is the Delph Electronics package. My question is whereas that package will generate the wheel can I import that wheel drawing and then add to it a deadbeat escapement or a recoil anchor?

No, but such things can be implemented by a script type library item.
If your good at math ... InvoluteSpur.js is an example file.

Yes, once all is merely a drawing one can copy/paste everything.
Don't count on us to invent the escapement.
Don't expect that QCAD will make it move.
