Trying before buying

Do you have a question you want to ask an existing QCAD user about QCAD and what you can do with it? Do you want to know if a particular feature exists? This is the place to ask.

Trying before buying

So as I understand it, the program resets every 15 minutes. But you can downgrade to a lower powered version before eventually upgrading??

And the upgrade to professional is tied to a certain time period (one year from installation?)

Or am I completely off the mark? (wouldn't be the first time)

Thank you for trying QCAD.

You can use the QCAD Community Edition (free, open source but limited functionality) or QCAD Professional for a one time fee of EUR 33 (USD 39). Licenses are for life and not limited to a year.

From our online shop:

License

All licenses are perpetual. This means that licenses are not time limited: buy once, use forever. This is a one time license fee. There are no monthly or yearly fees.

Updates

Updates are included for one year. After that, access to updates can be extended at a 30% discount. If you have previously purchased from us, you will receive an update discount code less than a year after your purchase.

Is there an additional fee to make QCAD "compatible" with AutoCad?

QCAD files are compatible with Autocad as far as entities and features are supported by QCAD.
The QCAD user interface is (deliberately) not an Autocad clone and cannot be made into one.
