Plans for move to QT5?

Post by mink » Tue Feb 03, 2015 3:16 pm

Hello,

are there any plans to move to QT5? What's up for new releases?

Just asking for the future, as our users might some time want to use QCad on a tablet...

Regards,
Ulrich

QCAD can be compiled against Qt 5 since about Qt version 5.2. However, there was one bug in Qt 5 which held back a Qt 5 based QCAD release for a long time: https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-37926

This bug basically meant that mouse clicks at x,y arrived at a completely different locations in QCAD. This bug should be fixed in Qt 5.4, so there's nothing in the way of a Qt 5 based QCAD release anymore.

As far as tablets go, I can confirm that QCAD sources can be compiled for Android (tested) and likely also iOS (not tested until now).

No, we currently have no plans to spend any resources on a QCAD version for iOS / Android.
