global linear factor for dimensions

Post by jens63 » Fri Dec 04, 2015 1:25 pm

In QCAD you can give a dimension a linear factor in the property editor (specific properties). I use this feature very often, because I often draw scaled-down. That means if a length is 4500 mm in reality, in my sketch I draw a line which is e.g. only 90 units. In order to get the correct dimension value in my drawing, I have to give this dimension a linear factor of 50. It would be very helpful, if there were a global linear factor for linear dimension, as it is for example in AutoCAD. Could such a global linear factor be added to the drawing preferences menu? (Please note that I don't mean the size scale factor in the dimension settings of the drawing preferences menu.)

It appears that this has been marked fixed.
Can you give hint about how or where?

It is not a global setting that you can set in the Drawing Preferences.
See the Scale factor in the Options Toolbar.
This option is stored persistent and QCAD will warn you when adding 'scaled' dimensions.

Remark that it is not common practice to draw at scale.
Simply draw everything in 1:1 whatever the preferred unit is.
That spares you the effort of scaling all real world sizes and measurements.
How it is printed depends on paper scale.
