Is it possible to combine to combine Leader (DE) with Position (IO)
This is to stop having to use 3 commands, IO to draw the co ordinates, DE to draw a leader from the co ordinate position to where you want it to be, and then Copy (MV)
to move the co ordinates to the end of the leader.

Re: LEAADER AND POSITIION
Hi,
IO is an info tool and only draws a point associated with its coordinate as text when the option 'Add measurement to drawing' is active.
The preview is green, the position is listed in your Command History and if set the 2 entities are created on the current layer.
DE accepts coordinates inputs just like any other tool.
Try this:
- Ensure that the Status Bar is displayed. If not use the shortcut GS.
- Start DE, QCAD will ask for the 'Arrow Position' with an L-click.
See tool tip for the left mouse button beside the mouse icon in the middle of the Status Bar.
- Indicate the position for the end of the arrow.
- QCAD will now ask for the 'Next Vertex' with an L-click.
- Indicate as much vertex positions as required with an L-click and finish this Leader creation with an R-Click = 'Done'.
- Start over for a new Leader or terminate the tool with an R-click = 'Cancel'.
It is thus not required to use the IO tool before or to move the Leader to another place with MV afterwards.
The position of the cursor is displayed in the Status Bar.
One can also enter a coordinate via the Command Line as for any other tool.
Regards,
CVH

Re: LEAADER AND POSITIION
After re-reading ...
Are you asking for a tool that places a Leader pointing to a position with the coordinate of that position as text?
That is rather a new feature request than a topic for the 'QCAD 'How Do I' Questions' forum.
A Leader is basically nothing more than a Polyline with an arrow at the start.
Per definition It is not associated with a text entity under QCAD.
In a custom script we can combine these things together.
The problem is that the text can be anything.
A position in your case, the length of a line or the curvature for someone else.
Or a referenced Block name as in this topic.
This last is nearing its completion and based on that any text can be used.
Combining things also makes it more complex.
Font, size and style options, coordinate or value formatting, an optional Wipeout under the text, adding a Point, curved Leaders ...

Re: leader and position
CVH
I understand complexities in the program.
I attach what I wanted to achieve.
The r/h side of the drawing is with the 3 commands the bottom jumble is using
IO only.
The co ordinates will be used to manually write a Mach 3 CBC program on another computer hence I need a transferable copy.
My work! is hobby based so time is not critical and I will take the matter as closed.
Thank you for your insight.

Re: (SOLVED)leader and position

In my fiddling with the above I discovered
that if I select a part then left click on the blue dot on the selected part and hold down the curser I can drag the part about.
When I release the curser the part stays in the new position.
Is this part of normal practice?

Re: (SOLVED)leader and position
In that case I would advice to explore QCAD/CAM with a Mach 3 postprocessor.
Please start a new topic for unrelated questions.
That makes the forum more searchable.
When entities are selected, QCAD displays reference markers as little colored squares or circles.
The colors may be different and have a meaning, red is then typically the start.
A little circular marker is indicating a center position.
One can drag the individual reference marker by indicating ON the marker and holding down the left mouse button and start dragging.
The intended marker will stick to your cursor and you can release the mouse button.
A next click with the left mouse button will position that marker at the indicated position.
One can also drag the entity(ies) as is, as they are, by picking an entity NEAR a marker but just outside and holding down the mouse button.
The selection will stick to your cursor by the nearest marker.
