SOLVED: How Do I Stay Logged in

Post by Chips&Chips » Sun Feb 04, 2024 11:07 am

I just spent a half hour typing a question, complete with all the items demanded above. Then I was told I had to LOG IN.

I HAD LOGGED IN. At least five times. Is there a time-out? Did I type too many words or letters?

WHAT?

How do I stay logged in?

First QCAD is completely FREE.

Then it is $42! But there really is a free version. But I can't get it for reasons, UNKNOWN.

So I pay $42!

Oh, and there is a mystery book for another $39, but if AND ONLY IF you buy it sight unseen and at the same time as your QCD order, it is only $19. I guess this is why there is a book. I guess I should have ordered it.

Now I can't LOG IN to this forum and type a question without being LOGGED OUT!

Something is rotten in Denmark!

Yes, QCAD CE is completely free.
No, you can not download it, you can trial QCAD Professional and then decide to buy a licence or to continue with QCAD CE.

It doesn't serve anyone to ask for the same info in different places.

When logging in you can opt for "Remember me".
On occasion it might be required to login over new ... Once each month or so.

You need to be logged in to open topics or to reply on existing topics.
Quite strange that you were able to compose a post when not logged in or that this is asked when submitting.

The back button of your browser may take you back before being logged in.
But the same back button or the forward button may retrieve the typed text when posting failed for some unknown reason.
All depends on your Network, Browser settings, Cookies and so on.

CVH

First, I LOGGED IN

IMMEDIATELY

before I typed that question.

IMMEDIATELY BEFORE!

Next, I DID try using the browser BACK button. It did not restore my message: I only got a blank window where I had to start over.

I say it again,

Something is rotten in Denmark!

So the free version is the one that requires a restart every 15 minutes? And I already had that up and running on my computer.

Paul,

What link/internet page do you use to log on to the forum?

I use: https://www.qcad.org/rsforum/index.php
Before the link on the ribbonsoft site was: https://www.ribbonsoft.com/rsforum/index.php

No, that is the QCAD professional trial version.
In the other topic I pointed out to a reply by Andrew with an image of the Trial Widget.

That post starts with: At the top of the download page is stated:
  • These packages contain QCAD, bundled with a free trial of QCAD Professional. The trial runs 15min at a time and can then be restarted. You can order QCAD Professional from our Online Shop and download the full version immediately. Alternatively, you can choose to remove the trial and use the reduced free QCAD Community Edition instead.
Further down is stated:
  • QCAD Community Edition
If you are looking for the free open source QCAD Community Edition, you can download the trial version for your platform (see above) and then remove the QCAD Professional add-on running in trial mode (click Remove in the Trial widget and follow on screen instructions).

I had been using QCAD.org and then clicking on the FORUM tab. But I have saved the link you use without the index.php. Is that necessary. My browser, Firefox, did not pick that up when I saved the link.

Anyway, it seems to be working OK now. Some kind of internet glitch, I guess.
