Sorry for newbie question:
(using Qcad pro 3.29.6.0 on MacOs Ventura 13.5.1)
I struggle with a most basic procedure: how to hatch-fill or solid-fill a closed polyline shape.
I have drawn several polyline shapes manually or with the rectangle/circle/ellipse tool. OK.
I have selected the contour to be filled. Property editor shows the geometry with "closed = yes". OK
screen size and object size are 10...100 units wide, several sizes tried.. ok.
1) In the "modify" tool pane can always see only the hatchedit icon, but very rarely the "hatch from segments" icon -- why is this
2) On most attempts, clicking the hatchedit icon does not open the popup screen as shown in the qcad handbook. Once in about 20 cases I get the popup screen, but no visual effect on the screen after completion.
I have succeeded in 3 out of ca 100 attempts to solid-fill a shape and I wonder why this does not work in all other cases.
--> What am I doing wrong here?
please advise. Thanks

Re: How to hatch-fill a shape?
Hi, and welcome to the QCAD forum.
A Hatch is a separated entity that you created with menu Draw .. Hatch and then from selection or from segments.
https://www.ribbonsoft.com/doc/qcad/lat ... on_en.html
https://www.ribbonsoft.com/doc/qcad/lat ... ts_en.html
All shape tools can be filled solid on creation with a separate hatch.
Menu modify .. Hatch Edit is intended for existing Hatch entities, the tool asks to indicate a hatch in the drawing.
See left mouse button tip in the middle of the Status Bar, usually located below the drawing panel.
Regards,
CVH
