Hello, very inexperienced user here so I’m sorry if this has an obvious solution that I’m missing.
I’m trying to modify a DXF drawing that I imported. Had a friend create this for me on Adobe Illustrator and now I am in QCAD and need to make revisions to certain portions of this drawing but everything seems to be grouped together as one unit. I can’t select specific portions, it only selects the entire drawing as one. Is there a way to ungroup these so that I can modify specific portions? I tried the “explode” option but that didn’t seem to work. Any help is appreciated! I’ve attached a photo of the file I’m working with.

Re: Can’t modify imported DXF drawing?
Hello,
difficult to say without seeing the actual drawing ...
To be on the safe side:
1. Flatten the drawing below Menu . Misc .. Modify .. "Flatten Drawing to 2D".
2. Explode. Note: The Expode tool works in multiple steps, probably you have to use it 2 or 3 times on the same group (Block).
If that still doesn't works please attache the drawing in question to your post for a more efficient support of your drawing issue. Thanks.

Work smart, not hard: QCad Pro
QcadPro, QcadCam, Win11/64, 64GB RAM, 10-Core, SSD
If a thread is considered as "solved" pls. change the title of the 1. post to "[solved] Title..."

Re: Can’t modify imported DXF drawing?
Thank you Husky. I don’t have the option to “Flatten drawing to 2D” but was able to go into the Block section after exploding and somehow was able to make it work after that, not exactly sure what I did but now I’m able to edit. Thank you for your help!Husky wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2024 7:59 pmHello,

Posted in the "QCAD Professional Version" forum.
Please always indicate your QCAD version as required by the above forum rules in red.
Presumed is that you use QCAD CE (Community Edition).
Unlisted in features but "Flatten Drawing to 2D" is a Pro feature.

This has most probably nothing to do with Blocks.CubbyChowder wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2024 8:21 pmwas able to go into the Block section after exploding and somehow was able to make it work after that, not exactly sure what I did but now I’m able to edit.
What we see as selected in the picture is a Spline entity with control points.
(Or a chain of Béziers segments, not native but supported)
If you explode that once then it becomes a Polyline ... Again everything will be connected somehow.
The difference is that a Polyline is an approximation of the Spline using mostly bulging (arc) and straight (line) segments.
If you explode a Polyline it is turned into loose Line and/or Arc entities.
