Hi!
I’ve been working on this print for a hot minute, I’m going to send it out to a company that will cut it out of metal since I don’t have my own set up yet and their system doesn’t like the print to have a ton of anchor point, it’s too intricate. The problem is that when I close my poly line using “poly line from selection” it makes it go nuts with point. I cannot figure out how to close the lines!

I followed directions from another thread on here stating to use modify>detection> detect duplicates then hit the erase button on the top right and then from there select everything, draw> polyline from selection and I’ve done logically close polylines but my lines still are not connected.

Is there anything I can do to check both boxes?

A proper CAM should not have a problem with loose segments.

What we see in selection is probably a Polyline displaying a lot of markers for its vertices.
A red marker is the start, blue are intermediate (or end) vertices, light blue are segments midpoints.

It is the way QCAD displays a selected Polyline.
Don't be trouble by that.
The shape can be edited by dragging the markers.
See the Property Editor when selected for how many vertices/segments are involved.
Or for how many objects that are selected.

It would have be interesting to see the properties of the selection in the Property Editor
Seems to be a photo ... A screen capture as bitmap would include whole the GUI.

OC would create a logically closed polyline when a contour is singular and all is connected at endpoints within tolerance.
Double-clicking near a contour would select all connected at endpoints within tolerance.

In your case you could even select all (TA) and create multiple (closed) polylines from the selection (OC).

After OC, check if the polyline(s) in selecting is/are logically closed, see Property Editor.
If not, then there might be gaps or open ends.
We expect one logically closed polyline from one contour in selection.
If more than one, the contour was not neatly connected at any open end.

Fix the gaps by trimming both ends (TM), restart the OC process what will merge connected Polylines.
At some points 2 Arcs may not connect tangentially, then redefine these so that the do or so that they intersect.


With a drawing file we could help you more efficiently.
As engraver I do this process all the time, but in my case I explode the neatly closed polyline back.
