How to Display Angles in Surveyor Format

Post by cmcgrath5035 » Mon Jan 18, 2016 3:26 pm

My Qcad is Version: 3.12.5.0 (3.12.5) on Linux (openSUSE 13.2_64)

When I select Drawing Preferences-Dimension Settings - Angular Dimensions - Format = Surveyor's units
my angular dimensions have no text display.

If I choose Format = Deg/min/sec I get the correct text label on the dimension

Am I missing a setting?

I can confirm that surveyor's units are currently not supported in QCAD for formatting the label of angle dimensions.

I have to admit I'm not even sure if that would make any sense at all since surveyor's angles are absolute directions (N, E, S, W) but angle dimensions measure the angle between any two angles.

Hmm, I agree with your observation

What I was probably expecting, and might be a good enhancement, would be for the user to establish a "North" direction with a line or Arrow,
Then the angular dimension would be the Surveyor's notation of the line angle relative to that defined North.
But I am not a Surveyor, just trying to plot something onto a survey I have, so a real surveyor might have a different perspective on how he/she might want QCAD to behave.

I can easily live with d/min/sec as a relative display.

Thanks.
