[solved] Export section detail of drawing, for word processor

Post by boldstripe » Sun Jan 14, 2018 4:18 pm

I want to export just a detail of my drawing to insert on a page in a Microsoft Word document. I would like to export a vector format so that it does not make the Word document too big, while preserving quality/resolution.

I can get close to what I want by export or printing to PDF from QCad-Pro, choosing a single output page (A4 for example) and manipulating zoom to just fill that page size with the object(s) I need. However, by the time I insert that PDF in the Word document, it shrinks from, say, A4 wide to only ~150 mm wide, and the lines become too narrow to print well on my laser printer.

What is the best way to do this?

[Max OSX High Sierra, QCad-Pro 3.19.2]

Edit: it seems a bit better if I export PDF to an A6 page size.

Edit 2: changing the line weights to 0.13 mm (ISO), combined with the A6 page size landscape orientation, produced a pretty good result. The PDF can be set after Insert to 150 mm wide and the line weights printed well with my laser printer

Brilliant! (customize page size). Otherwise I was opening the A6 PDFs in Apple 'Preview' and using 'Crop' to get the best shape. Thank you!
