I'm puzzled; I'm using version 3.21.2; I can't find a tool to click select a single entity.
This page http://www.mlb.co.jp/linux/science/qcad/doc/en/012.html
shows such a tool in the selection tools; however my qcad does not show the "single entity" tool.
I can often work around it by using rectangle selection; and sometimes - apparently at random - I CAN click-select. Please help?
how to select a single entity?

Re: how to select a single entity?
You are using a publication which is at least 17 years old. I can't recommend such aged documentation because many things are changed over the years ...whistler1 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 26, 2018 8:22 amThis page http://www.mlb.co.jp/linux/science/qcad/doc/en/012.html

Asuming you are on Windows (?),
You don't need to launch a specific tool for a single selection. Just use your Mouse pointer left Button to select an entity. To select or deselect multiple single entities use the combination Shift + Left Mouse click.
Work smart, not hard: QCad Pro
Win10/64, QcadPro, QcadCam version: Current.

Re: how to select a single entity?
Thanks Husky;
I select a shape tool and draw a rectangle.
I go back (esc or back arrow tool) to the tool chooser and pick "select"
the top left shows the "active tool" as draw a rectangle. When I left-click it draws another rectangle.
Clicking on the "active tool" shows no options.
In thrashing around I think I've found my answer.
If I click ABOVE the "active tool", repeatedly RIGHT click or repeatedly press escape the "active tool" gets unset.
It would be more helpful (and intuitive) if the select menu included an "entity select".
Hopefully my struggles will benefit someone else at some time.
Thanks again

Re: how to select a single entity?
You don't have to pick a selection tool for that matter! The single entity selection with your left mouse button is always available when no other tool is active.
My previous answer explains why it is not included in the Selection Menu.
