Can I view line weights on screen?

Post by SmallDiggs » Wed Sep 12, 2018 4:02 pm

I used to use AutoSketch years ago before Autodesk purchased the software and killed it. One of the things I loved about that software is you could visually see the line weights on your screen as you were drawing.

Does QCAD do this?

QCAD shows line weights by default. However, a line weight of 1mm might not be visibly thicker than a width of 0.5mm in a large drawing.

In paper space / print preview you can see line weights as they are printed. Line weights are always printed in their nominal size on paper. I.e. 1mm wide means 1mm wide on paper, even if your drawing is scaled down / up for printing.

Finally, if you just want to be able to distinguish thinner from thicker lines on screen, you can switch to screen-based linetypes: View > Screen-based Linetypes
