How to create page title block in viewport

Post by vdanny » Fri Oct 12, 2018 4:46 pm

In regards to my last post about creating pages for multiple drawings in one file, I was assisted by using the viewport function. Yet now I need to discover how to add a border and page title block to those individual drawings and each with its own viewport?

Again, the tutorial should have you covered:
https://qcad.org/en/tutorial-working-wi ... -viewports

I.e. you'd typically add your border to the layout block.

I went to the tutorial it just gives basic info; I still do not know how to add drawing or multiple drawings to a page (ie 24x36) for printing and with a page border and title block for those different pages. I open a template into a new drawing yet I do not know how to make that available in my present drawing. And how to add one or more drawing s to those pages with a page border and title for printing. I went to a YouTube video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zwf_FVmRgxE it’s so blurry one cannot distinguish anything and there is now audio.
Can some please tell me how this is supposed be done. Please.

I'll walk you through the first layout block. Please follow these instructions very carefully, step by step:
1. Block > Add Layout Block
2. Enter a name
3. OK

-> You should now have created a new layout block successfully. It should show up in the block list under the name you've chosen.

Let's add a viewport to that new layout block:
4. Draw > Viewport > Add Viewport
5. Click 1st corner of the drawing part you want to show
6. Click 2nd corner of part to show in viewport
7. Choose the layout to add the viewport to, i.e. same name as chosen in step 2
8. OK
9. You can now see a paper. Place the viewport onto your paper.

-> You have now a layout block with a viewport in it. In other words, your new layout block shows a part of your drawing. That part can now easily be printed or exported to PDF.

10. Draw a rectangle around your viewport in your layout block. That's your border. Obviously, feel free to take it from there, add a header, text, etc.

If you struggle, let us know at what step, attach screenshots, drawing files, etc.
