Unable to print

Post by strath114 » Sat Jan 25, 2025 8:22 pm

QCAD 3.27.1 Windows 11
When I now open a file to print I get the error message
QCAD Print This app does not support print preview.
Followed the suggestions from the forum. Tried the sample file no luck. Tried print to pdf no luck
I have reset the application, reinstalled my printer drivers to no avail.
Any suggestions?
Thank you

QCAD Print This app does not support print preview.
Is that the literal error message by QCAD?
Searched for the text string and parts of it inside the QCAD code with no results.

Or is that a message in the Printer Dialog?
More something as 'No Preview available'.

QCAD starts exporting your drawing after a printer is selected, It does not make a quick raw preview of the export.
There is thus no data to be be shown in the Printer Dialog preview area if that exists.
There was no preview area in the older Printer Dialog: See screen capture here.
An example of a different (newer) Dialog is somewhat lower in the same topic: here

QCAD has its own preview method build in: See menu File .. Print Preview (Ctrl+Shift+P)
It then switches to Preview mode or paper mode.
Typically a grey background with a page representation and that is usually white.
That is also activated for displaying a Layout (Paper_Space)

There is no reason to print to a PDF device because QCAD is able to export to a PDF using vector graphics.
Menu File .. PDF Export (XD) is not handled with a Printer Dialog.
The Print Preview may be obscured by the File Dialog (maximized)

Menu File .. Print (Ctrl+P) also activates the Print Preview mode before showing the Printer Dialog.
