[solved] How can I change my keyboard layout?

Post by orjo » Wed Feb 07, 2018 10:24 pm

I just installed qcad/cam pro 3.19.2 and started to use it.
I'm running it on Ubuntu 17.10 My system keyboard layout is in azerty. My keyboard layout in Qcad is in qwerty.
How can I change this.
I already tryed to do a reinstall of qcad but the problem keeps the same.
On my desktop I have no problems. Only on my laptop.

Hi orjo - welcome to the QCAD Forum.

You'll find the settings for the QCAD language below: Application Preferences / Language Settings / Language.

Keyboard settings which are used for the keyboard are controlled by the OS.
Work smart, not hard: QCad Pro
Win10/64, QcadPro, QcadCam version: Current.

Well there is something wrong. My OS is using the Belgian Keyboard layout .
Qcad is using the english layout ( azerty for the Belg and qwerty for English.
I tried to change the language in Qcad but that has no effect. It keeps using The qwerty layout.
What can I do to turn this arround?

This is probably a bug in either Qt, Unity or a combination of the two. If you can provide additional information on how to reproduce this, I can look into it. Think of screenshots of your keyboard settings, do you use multiple layouts and switch between them, what are your locale settings (type locale in a terminal), etc.

It seems I have a bug on My laptop in Ubuntu 17.10. I can not set it to the regional settings I need.
I select Duct Belgian to be the standard but it keeps referring to the dutch dutch settings when I look in the settings.
I deleted the language settings for dutch started in English and after a few startup's set everything for belgium dutch but in Qcad it keeps typing with the english keyboard layout.
Does this means that ubuntu 17.10 sucks?

I did an other install. This time back to Ubuntu 16.04.3.
Qcad is now working as it should.

orjo: The correct download for your system is:

"QCAD Professional 3.27.6 for Linux Qt 5.14 64bit (Installer)"

Hello,

Could you help me? It would be appreciated.

I have the same problem but with Qcad 3.27.1 and ubuntu 22.04.1

When I write a text, the [shift] function to insert accents or symbols no longer works.

I no longer have access to: é É è È ê Ê etc.

With ubuntu 18.04 and Qcad 3.27.1 I had no problem, I had access to all these accents.

Hope I was clear enough, thanks.

I am running QCAD pro 3.27.8.0 on a current Debian ("testing") Linux with the standard 64bit Linux installer (not the specific qt5 version).

For me, too, everything was fine on my desktop system whereas the keyboard layout was incorrectly set to "US" on my laptop. The only difference I noted was that I was using X11 on my desktop system due to the nvidia graphics card while using wayland with the built-in Intel graphics on the laptop. Switching from wayland to X11 on the laptop fixed the problem for me.

Since I do not necessarily need wayland on my laptop this is okay for me. However, someone should dig into this issue and find the root cause.
I can file a bug report if someone gives me a hint if this is a bug rather in Qt, Wayland or QCAD itself.

oliverg: On Wayland, you'd have to use the "Qt 5.14" package as indicated above.
