Font sizes on dual monitor (Hi/Lo DPI)

Post by ra_vy » Fri Apr 28, 2023 8:28 pm

Hello hello,
I'm constantly struggling with the application font sizes in some parts of QCAD. I'm on version 3.28.1. windows 11. My setup is Dell Inspiron 16 7610 (which has a High DPI display) with an external display which is a rather old standard SAMSUNG LCD.

I have the scaling at 200% in Windows (the recommended value) for the laptop display and 100% for the external one.

On the laptop display everything is fine but on the external display QCAD has some font sizes larger than others, especially the property editor is quite hard to work with:

This is hapenning even with Windows being set to only use the external display.
I know this is hapening with other applications using Qt, i think i had the same issue with GIMP some time ago but it got fixed.

Any ideas on how to fix this? Is this a bug?

Many thanks
R

Just a side note - could it be that the command line widget just need to be adjusted for the hight? If so - pull it to a proper size with the mouse ...

Work smart, not hard: QCad Pro
Win10/64, QcadPro, QcadCam version: Current.

Yes, yes, the widget can be resized to accomodate the large fonts better but it's still ugly and requires a lot of scrolling etc.

I'll reword my initial post as i've realized that the issue is there even on single monitor - If I change the scaling option in windows display settings to anything else from 100% the issue is there. Here this is on a HiDPI monitor where windows wants to use 200% scale. As a result QCAD scales some of the UI strings according to the windows setting but those highlighted in red are always displayed same as if there was 100% set in windows (that is small).

Hello, I'm just posting one more example of the described issue - in this instance after a switch from low to high DPI display. Is there a chance this could receive attention from the devs?

Cheers!

Unfortunately, we cannot reproduce the issue here at all. All user interface components are rendered just fine, regardless of the Windows display scaling factor (100%, 200%, 350%, ...). So this is really hard to fix from our end.
