user config file migration (solved)

Post by bambuko » Mon Oct 18, 2021 8:11 am

I am re-installing QCAD in a PC with new distro.
Is it possible to copy and paste user config file from existing setup?
or is it a case of laboriously setting up preferences again?

Yes, you can copy the file QCAD3.ini over.

Please refer to our web site to find out how / where you can find this file:

Thank you @andrew
and sorry for asking - the answer was hiding in a rather not obvious (at least to me) place
and for those who do not speak German, the link is:
https://qcad.org/en/tutorial-resetting- ... figuration

P.S. perhaps tutorial should make it clear as well, that it is not only "...to reset QCAD to its default configuration..." e_confused

I agree that broadening the description of resetting the config to also include transferring it might be helpful. The first time I wanted to do that I didn't think to look at the reset config tutorial under "Troubleshooting".
