How to Uninstall the Pro demo version from Ubuntu?

Post by asquared » Tue Dec 21, 2010 6:42 pm

I recently installed the demo pro version of QCAD (Version 2.2.2.0) for evaluation purposes, but later found that the community version was available for install on my Ubuntu 10.10 system. That community version (Version 2.0.5.0-Free-1) is now installed. Although it is less functional than the demo version, it is not limited to 10 minutes contiguous use. Therefore I wish to delete the demo version.

However, although I can invoke it, the demo version is not shown as being installed in Ubuntu Software Centre, nor is it listed in the Synaptic Package manager. Both those facilities show the community version only.

How do I uninstall the demo version, while retaining the community version?

I suppose the downloadable installs into /opt/qcad by default. Or wherever you untarred the archive. Just delete that directory.

In case a menu entry left dangling, in the terminal do:

Code: Select all

$ locate desktop |grep qcad
then of the returned files, delete the one that points to /opt/qcad… Desktop files are plain text.
