Kubuntu 8.0.4 (heron) install

Post by coupedefleur » Sun Oct 12, 2008 2:48 am

Hi
I was running the community edition of qcad (loaded the binary via adept) and decided to buy the professional edition of qcad to get the polyline feature.

I think I had problems installing professional because of the already-installed community edition, so I deleted that (i.e. I uninstalled it).

What steps should I take to install my qcad tar.gz file? Is there an easy way to add it to my applications menu?

Thanks.

After more messing around, I created a directory in /usr/local for qcad, copied the .tar.gz file there and unpacked it. I've can now run qcad as a desktop icon, but the hatch directory apparently isn't being found.

You have to start QCAD from its installation directory, otherwise it cannot find its resources.

Code: Select all

cd /path/to/qcad
./qcad
