Other types of toolpaths?

Post by Clive » Thu Dec 29, 2016 1:28 pm

In the tutorial you've outlined in red that 'In future releases, other types of toolpaths will be available, for example for pockets'
are you able to briefly expalin what they may be and any additional info about this please?
For the best support please state your operating system, QCAD version and add any supporting DXF/DWG files, screenshots etc...

Right I'm going to answer my own questions here based on what I know about manual free hand held and fixed routing - it has to be the same principles here!

Okay my assumption of a profile cut tool path has to be a complete cut through cut leaving the shape and a pocket tool path must be about any shape where the material is partly taken out by passes and not all the way through.

Correct?

Yes, correct. A pocket toolpath would clear out all material inside a given contour, but not all the way through.

It's certainly one of the next things on my list for QCAD/CAM. No promises though.

The basic logic needed for this is already there though (polyline offset tool):
