Hi all, from yesterday to today I note that now when I select something, or click on a command, or am trying to snap to grid that it is taking three or four seconds for that action to complete. I have not installed anything new, and the usual suspect of a windows update was also not coincident with this.
I've restarted the PC a couple of times to see if it is something to do with cache files or what-have-you to no avail. No other programs seem to be affected, everything else is normal. For info, it is Win 10 on an i7 with 16GB Ram running a GTX1060 GPU
The file I am working on is complex, and is approaching 2mb however this is by no means the biggest .dxf file I've worked on in Qcad
Any ideas?
Cheers
Les

Re: Qcad slowing down
Les,
For that we need to inspect the concerning DXF file.
There are things that may slow down QCAD and when use extensively QCAD may start lagging beyond the workable.
For several things there is a work-around and others can be fixed.
In the end there is a limit in what QCAD can handle.
Regards,
CVH

Re: Qcad slowing down
Apologies for not seeing this last night
This is the file I'm working on, if it is due to the file becoming too complex I will split it out
Cheers

Re: Qcad slowing down
Hi Les - thanks for the file.
No need to split the file - the file looks good! It contains nothing what will slow down the QCAD performance! Tested on a Win10/64, i5, 16 GB RAM. With all layer visible - fast like hell.lesthegringo wrote: ↑Mon May 08, 2023 7:45 amThis is the file I'm working on, if it is due to the file becoming too complex I will split it out
Work smart, not hard: QCad Pro
Win10/64, QcadPro, QcadCam version: Current.

Re: Qcad slowing down
Ok, thanks for checking it - I wonder what's going on with my Qcad then?
Maybe uninstall and reinstall?

Re: Qcad slowing down
It's worth a try ...
1. Reset QCAD to default settings:
https://qcad.org/en/tutorial-resetting- ... figuration
Test if that solved the problem. If not ...
2. De-install / reinstall QCAD with a fresh downloaded version according to your OS
https://www.qcad.org/de/qcad-downloads-trial
3. Convert the trial to the CE according to this tutorial.
https://www.qcad.org/rsforum/viewtopic. ... 668#p17085
If the problem then still persist - then it isn't caused by QCAD.
