I am new to QCAD which I have just downloaded and hopefully have deleted the necessary files to run the basic free version in Windows 11
My question is I have drawn a rectangular block to start then drawn the horizontal lines to indicate the holes going through it. What I need to do is delete the vertical lines crossing the holes but to use the delete tool it highlights the complete line where I only need to delete the section over the hole. How can I do this??

By removing the Pro features you converted the QCAD trial version into the free QCAD Community Edition.

By selecting an entity or entities followed by 'Delete' (ER or 'Delete' key) you delete the entire entity(ies).

I suspect that you want to shop up a line segment in 3 parts, removing the middle part.
The related modification tool is called 'Break out segment' (D2).
See online reference or look it up under menu Help .. Reference Manual.
That would work just the same if the rectangular block is drawn as a closed Polyline instead of 4 lines.

D2 is the shortcut key sequence.
Hit the 'D' key, release it and hit the '2' key shortly after that to initiate the tool.
('D' with or without using the shift key, '2' of the top line with the shift key or simply '2' of your NumPad)

Other ways to initiate it is by clicking on the tool its action button what is presented in various places.
Under menu Modify, on the CAD Toolbar when displaying the Modification tools, on the Modify Toolbar, on the Tool matrix if displayed.


I can only advice to buy a perpetual personal licence for a small fee an unlock the full potential of QCAD Pro.
That includes 1 year of access to your personal download area with updates.
Afterwards you can renew this access at any time by renewing your licence for a reduced fee.

I wanted to try QCAD for a short period to see how I got on with it before a commitment I am impressed with what I have achieved so far and how easily
I have tried several other free CAD software with nowhere the success that I have with QCAD
