Thanks for your report.

Please indicate the QCAD Edition you are using (QCAD Professional, QCAD Trial-Version, QCAD Community Edition).
Please indicate which package you have downloaded and installed (qcad-3.18.1-pro-linux-x86_64.run or qcad-3.18.1-pro-linux-qt4-x86_64.run). You might want to try the alternative of the two packages.

Quick update: I cannot reproduce this problem here with either package on Linux Mint 18.2 64bit. Both packages seem to work just fine here.

    Version:

    Internet:
    QCAD.org
    Build Date:
    Oct 4 2017

    Qt Version:
    5.8.0

Was that a QCAD Trial Version - downloaded from this site: http://www.qcad.org/de/qcad-downloads-trial and you removed the trial option?
Was that the archive or the installation packet?

Your laptop system is a 64 bit and not a 32 bit system, correct?

Did you a single installation in an empty Subdirectory and has not mixed multiple QCAD installations in the same directory?
Work smart, not hard: QCad Pro
Win10/64, QcadPro, QcadCam version: Current.

Yes it was downloaded from that page.

the archive it was the onstallation package

no other installation.

this is the folder where the program is installed

&Home//opt/qcad-3.18.1-trial-linux-x86_6

I think we had just two cases like this. The first one was solved (likely by accident) but you told us that you tried the same steps and it wasn't working. Ok, I have to admit that I'm fishing in muddy water .... :(

May I ask you again so that we get a better picture:

1.
... no other program on the same system has this Keyboard problem
... the Mouse is proper working,
... you are not using a drawing which isn't designed by QCAD for your test, correct?

2. What means "all my keyboard"? Means that that you are not even able to put text in the "Text" tool dialog?

3. What about the Center, Radius tool - you are able to fill the Radius field in the Option box?

4. ... or does "all my Keyboard" means that you are not able to use commands in the Command Line

5. The Keyboard isn't locked by accident. Maybe some kind of Key which works like a caps lock or num lock

6. Have you tried to run QCAD on a Thump drive attached to this Laptop? If not use the .gz version for a test.

Hi and thanks,
1.
... no other program on the same system has this Keyboard problem
... the Mouse is proper working,
... you are not using a drawing which isn't designed by QCAD for your test, correct?
...no
...yes at all LMB & RMB & WHEEL
....no
2. What means "all my keyboard"? Means that that you are not even able to put text in the "Text" tool dialog?
I can't type any text in the dialog box
3. What about the Center, Radius tool - you are able to fill the Radius field in the Option box?
Not at all
4. ... or does "all my Keyboard" means that you are not able to use commands in the Command Line
I can't type anything
5. The Keyboard isn't locked by accident. Maybe some kind of Key which works like a caps lock or num lock
I tested to open a text file while QCAD is running and I've been able to properly write on the text file, but when I tried to write on QCAD (command line e.g.) I couldn't type anything.
6. Have you tried to run QCAD on a Thump drive attached to this Laptop? If not use the .gz version for a test.
What is a Thump? Is it a sort of live distribution as like linux does? an installation on a USB? can you provide a link?

Thanks

You might want to try the legacy package using Qt 4 and older libraries:
http://qcad.org/en/qcad-downloads-trial
-> All Downloads
-> Linux 64bit Qt 4 Installer

Thank you for this information!

Sorry, that was a typo! I meant Thumb drive. That is a USB flash drive. Also called USB drive, USB stick, pen drive, jump drive, disk key, disk on key, flash-drive, memory stick, USB memory ...

... I shouldn't answer in the middle of the night.

[SOLVED] Keyboard doesn't work....

Post by Michele666 » Sat Oct 28, 2017 1:15 am

Hi,

after installing the qt4 version it worked.

Just a last question: what is the difference between the 2 versions? only the QT4 libraries?

Thanks for the support & regards.
