Hello
Please, would anyone know how I activate the ortho and turn off the grid, both permanently?
Thank you very much
My operating system is macos Monterey, version 12.7.6
My Qcad is the professional version 3.32.2.0 (3.32.2)

Hi,
Displaying the Grid or not is a View option, you can hide/display the Grid by toggling using the shortcut key sequence GR.
That does not prevent from snapping to it.
Orthogonal relative to the Relative Zero is for example with holding down the ALT key.
The Relative Zero is typically the last position entered and indicated by a little crossed red circle.
The result will be in an orthogonal direction but that doesn't prevent that your cursor position snaps.
When a position is required QCAD displays the Snap options at the left.
Typically Auto snapping is active.
What is considered as an Auto Snap can be configured under:
Menu Edit .. Application Preferences .. Snap .. Auto Snap.
For a series of orthogonal snaps one could force Free-hand snapping (FS) and Restrict Orthogonally (EO).
Instead of activating (EO) you can also hold down the ALT key.
Permanently is not really supported because Snapping Auto (SA) and Restrictions Off (EN) are default.
Then you could configure Snap Auto to only Free-hand snapping in combination with the ALT key.
Or activating (EO) when that is turned off.

CVH
