Importing Drawings

Post by MetalQuick » Fri Nov 14, 2025 5:33 pm

Any help understanding or fixing my issue would be greatly appreciated. I drew three separate parts on different tabs on QCAD for plasma cutting. After that was done I imported them to the same tab so I could do some manual nesting. The parts that I imported all shrunk in size. All of these parts were drawn in QCAD. Is there a way to ensure the parts stay the same as the original drawings when imported?

Hi, and welcome to the QCAD forum.

There are several possibilities for your problem.

QCAD may automatically convert between drawing units if those are not identical and differ from 'None'.
For example, when introducing content from a mm drawing into an inch drawing or vice versa.

With several drawings open you can Copy/Paste selected content between drawing tabs.
In that case have a look at the Paste scale in the Options Toolbar.
Most tool options are stored persistent between usage.

Again for importing a drawing into another have a look at the import scale in the Options Toolbar.
When imported as block you can correct the XY(Z) scale of the selected Block Reference uniformly in the Property Editor.
