Several (svg?) icons missing

Post by ryan0270 » Sat Dec 27, 2025 4:33 pm

Several, but not all, tool icons are missing for me. In the Layer List I see icons for the top buttons (visibility an/off, add/remove, edit) but not the lock/unlock icons for individual layers. When I use the Layer menu, though, lock icons are all visible. Also, when I activate the line tool at the top left (a bit under the file menu) I see the line tool icon and background squares for the subtools (segment, infinite line, ray, close sequence, undo, redo), but icons for the subtools are missing.

Using strace I see that it's finding the icon files and the normal log output doesn't report anything specific that I can find. One common theme among the missing icons is SVG, I think. How do I track down why these icons aren't showing?

OS: Arch Linux
QCad: 3.24.4.0
Qt: 6.10.1

Hi, and welcome to the QCAD forum.

QCAD CE is created from a QCAD pro trial package by removing some files:
Removing the Trial Add-Ons
You typically don't remove all the files in that folder.

Did you run QCAD Pro trial and did it behave as we might expect?

Which installation package did you download?
QCAD 3.24 with Qt6 doesn't sound logical, porting to Qt6 started later and assumed to be an ongoing process.
Perhaps you are better of with Wayland support, scroll down on the download page to see more options.

A picture says more than words.
Would it be possible to attach a screen capture from the QCAD GUI?

At some point, icon association was changed from implicit to the ones that are present with the correct naming.
In a standard installation that is all in compiled form.
This should be more flexible and tolerant.

Regards,
CVH

I didn't download directly from QCAD, I'm using the Arch Linux system package. Looking at the build script for that package (here) it downloads the source from github and builds with the Qt6 build flag.

If you think it's specific to the Arch Linux build, I can report it there instead of here. I did try looking at the Arch Linux forums for others posting the same problem, but wasn't able to find anything.

Hi,

I can only advice to download a trial package from the official QCAD Downloads page.
You have the option to pick the Linux installer at the top or lower down any of the suitable packages under "All downloads".

After installing, a trial widget is shown at the bottom right, click on the button "Remove".
For the listed files follow these instructions: Removing the Trial Add-Ons
