I just did a git pull and recompile. Clicked "Hide All Layers" then clicked the 'eye' icon at single layers to toggle visibility; the 'eye' icon will change states (which didn't happen before), but the corresponding layer stays hidden.
OS: Debian Linux "Testing" (Buster) 64-bit
Qt5 version 5.9.1; Qt4 version 4.8.7
