Many thanks Andrew for your input on task FS#2359.
However there were two other issues mentioned in the first task that seem to have been overlooked.
Italic text appears and disappears as I zoom in and out and if I try to insert italic text it will not show as italic on screen. Also when I try to insert an 'ohm' special character I only get a '?' question mark.
Apologies if I'm doing something silly !!
Regards
Richard

Please report one single issue per task, thanks.

Please note that 'italic' has no effect on CAD line fonts but only on TrueType fonts. A text with font "Standard" and italic is simply shown as Standard.

It appears that some texts were formatted as "Standard" and italic through inline formatting for TrueType fonts. QCAD will look for a TrueType font "Standard". Since you likely don't have such a font, it will be substituted, for example by Arial. TrueType fonts might appear weaker through Antialiasing when zoomed out. A screen shot would be helpful here if that's not what you meant.

To create italic text in CAD line fonts, please use an appropriate CAD line font that is italic or use TrueType fonts.

If a glyph shown up as "?", that glyph is not available in the CXF font that is used. QCAD fonts have glyph U+03a9 for Ohm, but not the glyph used in the drawing.

You might want to take this to the forum instead as the forum is not suitable for these types of discussions:

Also in the forum, please post one question per topic, thanks.

I will close this task as it's more of a discussion about various usage issues, not suitable for the bug tracker.
