Hi,

I have observed a behaviour of QCAD, which is not macOS standard and can easily result in data loss.

When opening and saving documents, standard macOS Keyboard shortcuts e.g. for text manipulation are not captured in the modal open/save dialogs, but are rather passed thru to the topmost QCAD window.

As an example the keyboard shortcut CMD-A (to select all text), ALT-Left-Arrow, ALT-Right-Arrow (to jump the text cursor word-wise), CMD-Left-Arrow, CMD-Right-Arrow (to place the text cursor at the beginning/end of the line), etc., are all incorrectly passed thru to the topmost QCAD window and cause these shortcuts to be applied to the frontmost QCAD window.

This is not conforming to macOS-standard behaviour and is inconvenient when modifying file names, e.g. when saving documents, but could even easily result in data los in the following scenario (and happened to me already):

When working with multiple QCAD documents in tabs instead of windows, and attempting to save a document with a new name then issuing CMD-Left/Right-Arrow in the save dialog will not move the text cursor to the beginning/end of the file name, but rather switch out the frontmost document in the background of the save dialog! This leads to data loss as pressing the save button after using CMD-Left/RIght-Arrow will overwrite the - now different frontmost document - with the file, which was frontmost when opening the save dialog!

The solution should be that all macOS standard keyboard shortcuts (or rather all keyboard shortcuts) must be captured by the modal open and save dialogs when they are in the foreground.

Thanks and best regards
Patrick

Thanks. This is a bug in Qt. We have implemented a workaround for the next release.
