QCAD Portable

QCAD can be installed on a portable drive or USB device without installing it on the computer’s hard drive. This allows you to carry QCAD with you and run it on different computers.

To make sure that all configuration files are stored on the portable device instead of on the host computer, QCAD has to be started with the -config command line argument, specifying a configuration directory on the portable device.

Windows

Extract the .zip package to your portable device and start QCAD with:

F:\QCAD\qcad.exe -config F:\config

Linux

Extract the .tar.gz package to your portable device and start QCAD with:

/mnt/myusbstick/qcad/qcad -config /mnt/myusbstick/config

macOS

Copy the .app bundle from the .dmg file to your portable device and start QCAD with:

/Volumes/MyUSBStick/QCAD-Pro.app/Contents/MacOS/QCAD-Pro -config /Volumes/MyUSBStick/config
